Captain Marvel has been making a huge splash this year. Not only has her film become the highest-grossing superheroine film, but she's also co-starred in Avengers: Endgame. With such a popular character, there are a few fans that wish other heroes from the DC Universe could take her on in a one-on-one showdown.

While some will present no challenge to her, there are few characters in the DC Universe that could easily take her down. So, we'll be looking at 5 DC characters that Captain Marvel could defeat, as well as five that she wouldn't stand a chance against.

10 Can Defeat: Green Lantern

A Green Lantern can use the energy from their power rings and form simple weapons to power armor. However, there's one thing that they don't do so well with: the color yellow. Sure, Green Lanterns have been trained to work around this weakness, and Hal Jordon has fought against Sinestro(Who has yellow energy), but it probably won't work so well when your opponent is as strong and fast as another one of DC super-powered beings.

9 Can't Defeat: Dr. Fate

Dr. Fate is one of, if not the most powerful sorcerers of the DC Universe. With the power of the Mask of Nabu, the Clock of Destiny, and the Amulet of Anubis, Fate has the power to conjure up powerful spells and can become intangible for a while.

Doctor Fate was even able to take Martian Manhunter and the Man of Steel, while the two were under mind control by Darkseid. We've seen Captain Marvel go up against the likes of Alien Spaceships and Thanos, but she hasn't fought against powerful magic users.

8 Can Defeat: Supergirl

Supergirl may have the same abilities has her older cousin, but that doesn't mean that she is as strong as him. Supergirl has pulled off a lot of great feats, like stoping meteorites, destroying a moon, and even has a few powers that her cousin doesn't have. While she has been shown to endure the likes of DC heavy hitters like Brainiac and Darkseid, she was never able to defeat them in a one-on-one fight, having another hero aid/save her. Service to say, she probably won't stand that much of chance against Captain Marvel

7 Can't Defeat: Orion

Born as the son of Darkseid, Orion was used as a bargaining chip to create a peace treaty with Apokolips and New Genisis. Highfather raised Orion and was trained by the New Gods as one of their own. Orion has super strength, regenerative healing, and trained in both hand-to-hand combat and military tactics.

While Carol has military experience as a fighter pilot, she doesn't have any as a general, as Orion has. On numerous occasions, the former son of Darkseid has waged war with his father and even defeated him several times. Pretty sure Thanos's Son hasn't beaten his father.

6 Can Defeat: Cyborg

Cyborg is one of the smartest beings in the DC Universe. He's hacked into numerous computers and military satellites and can use his computer mind to search for answers across the world wide web. Despite these abilities aiding him, he's not going to last that long against Captain Marvel.

While the armor he wears will be able to endure a lot of damage from Marvel's High Flying Pilot, we're sure that his Sonic-Boom Canon won't do so well against some of her photon energy beams. He may be smart, but you'll need some more brawn if you're going to take on this superhero from the Marvel Universe.

5 Can't Defeat: Dr. Manhattan

Dr. Manhattan is the most potent omnipotent being in the DC Universe. Similar to the characters of the 5th dimension, Dr. Manhattan has reality shaping powers that allow him to do just about anything he wishes. He can destroy a human being with just a single thought, change his size, create multiple versions of himself, and much more.

Most recently, it was revealed that Dr. Manhattan was the cause of the reality changing events of the New 52. While Captain Marvel is one of the most energetic beings in the Marvel Universe, she won't even last a second if Dr. Manhattan is in the same room with her.

4 Can Defeat: Shazam

With his super strength, ability to fly, and the power to shoot lightning from his hands, Shazam has become one of the fan-favorites in the DC Universe. However, he might have all these powers, but he's still just a boy underneath it all.

Captain Marvel has not only received some training in using her skills, but she's also shown that she's able to take down an armada of spaceships in mere seconds. Shazam is a tough cookie, but he hasn't done anything like that. While Shazam may have beaten her in the battle of the highest Rotten Tomatoes score, he's not going to do so well in an actual fight with her.

3 Can't Defeat: Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is the standard for female superheroes. While Captain Marvel has shown off some great feats of strength, she also gets overconfident relatively easy. While she's received training from the Kree, that hand-to-hand education won't do so well when you're opponent has been instructed by the Amazons, a.k.a.some of the most powerful women of all time who are masters of tactical combat. Captain Marvel has outgrossed Wonder Woman's movie, but Wonder Woman is all about quality, not quantity.

2 Can Defeat: Batman

Batman is usually prepared for just about everything. He has a list of ways to defeat the Justice League, and he's always solving the most difficult crimes across Gotham and Space. However, in a one-on-one battle, he's not going to last long against the woman who can shoot laser beams and has super strength, no matter how many gadgets he has in his utility belt.

1 Can't Defeat: Superman

Were you expecting anyone else? While Captain Marvel has destroyed an entire armada of ships, Superman does that on a daily bases. He's got Super Strenght, Heat-Vision, Ice Breath, flight and more. Superman has taken on foes that can destroy the earth in a matter of seconds and still manage to defeat them. Captain Marvel is a mighty warrior, but she wouldn't last long against the Last Son of Krypton.
