With the Green Lantern Corps getting their own series on HBO, the potential adventures and encounters are limitless! The DC universe is vast with plenty of characters to meet and there are a multitude of galactic villains that the Corps could encounter.

Cosmic villains for the Green Lanterns to face off against could help make the series into an iconic one. The Green Lantern series could be like Star Trek meets Lethal Weapon and fans can't wait. Characters like Sinestro and Star Sapphire are obvious picks. So what villains should beware of their power: Green Lantern's light?

10 Kanjar Ro

Kanjar Ro

While he's no Darkseid, not very scary, or particularly epic, Kanjar Ro is a Green Lantern villain. Kanjar Ro is a simple antagonist who is a thorn in the side of the Lanterns. Whether he's the war criminal or just a space pirate, Kanjar Ro can cause problems. In between the big story arcs, Kanjar Ro could be a simpler villain for Lanterns. Or, he could be the first case the Lanterns investigate for the pilot episode.

9 Larfleeze

Larfleeze the Orange Lantern hugging his Orange Power Battery in DC Comics

Larfleeze has always been a joke character for DC. He's the Orange Lantern powered by the color of greed. For the most part, Larfleeze has been one of the more laughable villains in Green Lantern's gallery of rogues. However, the character shows potential. With the proper revamp and writers, Larfleeze could make for a better villain whose greed makes him unstoppable.

8 Starro The Conqueror

Typically, Starro The Conqueror is reserved as a threat to the Justice League. However, Starro could potentially be a villain that forces many (if not all) of the Green Lantern Corps to work together.

Starro is an alien parasite that slowly possesses a planet's populace one by one. With the millions of tiny starfish drones controlled by a massive psychic starfish, Starro could lead to a more cosmic-horror storyline.

7 The Manhunters

Manhunter-Manhunter-Androids

Before the Green Lantern Corps, the Guardians Of The Universe created The Manhunters as the first intergalactic peace corps. The Manhunters are robots that only care about their objective. Shocker: it didn't work out and the Manhunters were scrapped. The Manhunters could provide a deadly threat to the Lanterns– a revenge story that could help the Lanterns prove that they are the ultimate galactic protectors.

6 The Reach

Reach Negotiator From DC Comics

Where most hostile aliens attempt to invade through destruction or assimilation, the Reach are a bit different. The Reach poses as a peaceful race but slowly take over from the inside. This concept could make for a more political and espionage-driven adventure. Plus, the Reach could allow the introduction of another DC hero: the Blue Beetle. Perhaps even setting up a spin-off series on HBO Max about the character.

5 Mongul

A Green Lantern imprisoned in an arena with the galaxy's most dangerous fighters? Sounds like the recipe for something iconic. Mongul runs War World and is one of the most hate-worthy villains in the best way possible. Mongul and War World are typically featured in Superman stories, but there's no reason why a Lantern wouldn't be chosen for War World. Especially a strong and powerful Lantern like Kilowog.

4 Lady Styx

Lady Styx Attacking Starfire

One of the more overlooked Green Lantern villains, Lady Styx is one of the few villains that the Guardians Of The Universe fear. Why? She is worshipped like a goddess due to her control over the undead that makes up her armies. Styx travels from planet to planet, destroying more civilizations to increase her army. Much like Starro, Lady Styx could help the show embrace cosmic-horror. Lady Styx even looks like a monster out of H.P. Lovecraft.

3 Lobo

DC Lobo Kicks Space Cat

With the Green Lanterns being a police force, it is only inevitable that a Lantern comes across the Main Man. Lobo is likely hunting the same criminals that Lanterns are going after. This could make for a great fight between the bounty hunter and ring-slingers.

After Lobo stole the entire series in SyFy's Krypton Season 2, he proved he deserved more. Especially since the planned spin-off show was canceled. Since Lobo is an anti-hero by nature, he could be a threat and ally to the Lanterns.

2 Nekron

Nekron

There's no denying that one of the most impactful Green Lantern stories was Blackest Night. It was dark, epic, and brought about a unique threat that rivaled the likes of Darkseid. Nekron and the Black Lanterns are perfect for the series.

It could start with simple hints that get more drastic as the seasons go by; building up the rise of the Black Lanterns, similar to the White Walkers from Game Of Thrones. With Nekron and Black Hand, the Black Lanterns could be the ultimate story arc of the series... besides one other.

1 Atrocitus

The Red Lantern Corps leader Atrocitus surrounded by his Red Lanterns in DC Comics

The HBO series could build up the Black Lanterns, fooling viewers into thinking they were the ultimate threat. Thus allowing them to be shocked by the next big story: the Red Lanterns. Led by Atrocitus, the Red Lanterns at first come off as cheesy villains. The red energy of rage? How cliche.

Well, the Red Lanterns feature some of the darkest backstories. One of them, a cat named Dex-Starr, could lead to flashbacks that would destroy the hearts of viewers. This makes the Red Lanterns have more depth, leading to another great arc for the Green Lanterns. Even just Atrocitus himself would make for a great villain to rival the likes of Sinestro or Parallax.
