Green Lantern is probably one of the first names that come to mind whenever the word DC superhero is mentioned, alongside the usual one's Superman, Batman, The Flash, and Wonder Woman. Despite having a horror debut in the DCEU, the Green Lantern Corps are still a very integral part of DC Comics.

There are numerous Green Lanterns in the DC Universe and due to the kind of superpowers they can draw from the Power Ring, they have had to face some of the toughest supervillains in the galaxy. Some supervillains became a part of the Green Lantern history, while some faded away from the limelight.

10 Doctor Parris Made Threats Without Doing Much

Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott

Doctor Parris was seen for a very short period of time. All the supervillain did was threaten without ever making it look like he would achieve his evil objective. At that time, something called the H-Power was doing rounds and Parris wanted to be the first man to make use of it, for evil means. So he decided to bomb the building where H-Power was being researched but Green Lantern stopped it. He then tracked the missile to a camouflaged house and had a proper battle with Parris, who was using technology to keep the DC superhero at bay. He couldn't do enough and was taken to jail by the Lantern.

9 The Puppeteer Was Defeated Too Easily

DC Comics puppeteer

Jordan Weir aka the Puppeteer doesn't have a good name but he had a scary superpower. He was a scientist who created the Hypno-Ray; something that made the victims obey the Puppeteer's commands. He built a small crime army by having others do the dirty work for him. Even Green Lantern came into his grasp but in the end, the DC superhero was too much to handle for Weir. He was quite easily defeated and as easily forgotten.

8 The Invisible Destroyer Was Erased From Existence With Anti-Energy Particles

Green Lantern Destroyer

The idea of the Invisible Destroyer was a very good one, although the way this character was brought to life was literally sketchy. Dr. Martin Phillips drew a masked figure without a face and somehow, this creature came into existence.

The Invisible Destroyer was made out of pure energy and he could not only use bundles of it but also absorb it. Green Lantern couldn't find a way to destroy him as energy cannot be destroyed, but the DC superhero used anti-energy particles to erase him from existence.

Vandal Savage With Batman And Superman Behind Him

Perhaps known to the fans as Vandel Adg, Vandal Savage is an immortal being who became such when he came in contact with the rays of a fallen meteor. He has been around DC Universe for quite a while, manipulating human history, committing murders, organizing crime, all to achieve his selfish objectives. He first appeared in a Green Lantern comic, which makes him a Green Lantern supervillain but for some reason, he is never associated with the DC superhero when he should be.

Cameron Mahkent, the second Icicle in DC Comics

Dr. Joar Mahkent was once a scientist who created a device that could freeze moisture. Imagine how destructive this piece of technology could have been if it fell at the hands of someone pure evil. Fortunately, the Icicle wasn't that bad, although his plans were continuously foiled by Green Lantern. He once planned to escape by faking his death, but the DC superhero made that out as well. He died during the Crisis On Infinite Earths.

5 The Sportsmaster Wasn't Threatening Enough So He Retired

The villain Sportsmaster in DC Comics

The Sportsmaster or Lawrence Crock is better known for being Tigress's husband more than a Green Lantern supervillain. He was a professional athlete who could have had a huge future in sports but he decided to commit to crime, instead. He was a recurring villain for Alan Scott but he never threatened to become someone iconic. His character never seemed like something that would explode among the fans and he eventually retired.

Grundy has made numerous appearances in the comics battling both Green Lantern and the Justice Society, although he has never managed to become a popular presence.

2 The Sky Pirate Lacked An Origin Story & Failed To Connect With Fans

Sky Pirate as seen in the Golden Age DC Comics

There hasn't been anything known about the Sky Pirate's origins. He literally dropped out of the sky and maybe that's why the fans back in 1947 didn't feel any connection with him. Using planes as his normal means for committing crimes, the Sky Pirate had an array of advanced weapons somewhat not known to the world. Alan Scott, who was the Green Lantern back in the Golden Age, investigated the mysterious ship of the Sky Pirate and found himself locked in battle with a number of his goons.

The Sportsmaster, the same one mentioned above, destroyed Sullivan's business and it left him devastated. He then went on to murder the Mayor with a baseball bat. He was so angry with the Green Lantern (Alan Scott) that he placed his corpse in front of the DC superhero's house. Samuel, though, was soon admitted in the Arkham Asylum.
