DC Comics' Generations event has added what appears to be the original, Clark Kent version of Superboy to its time-traveling super-team.

During an interview with Newsarama last month, Generations writer Dan Jurgens teased that the time-displaced team of 1939's Batman, Kamandi, Steel, Starfire, Sinestro, Booster Gold and Doctor Light would be joined by an additional, mysterious hero who will "play a key part in the story and, we think, serve as a very pleasant, fun surprise for readers."

The solicitation for February's Generations: Forged #1 -- which serves as a follow-up to January's Generations: Shattered #1 -- now reveals that said hero is, in fact, Superboy -- with the comic's cover strongly suggesting it's the Clark Kent version. Forged's solicitation also reveals that Generations' villain, who went unnamed in the Shattered solicit, is actually none other than Dominus, who first appeared back in 1998.

Long before Conner Kent or Jon Kent took up the mantle of Superboy, it was the would-be Superman himself, Clark Kent/Kal-El, who used that name. Set primarily in the Man of Steel's hometown of Smallville, the original Superboy comics chronicled Clark's early superhero career. The Clark Kent version of Superboy debuted in 1945's More Fun Comics #101, with solo Superboy title launching in 1949 and a relaunch later arriving in 1980. In 1958, shortly after the Golden Age ended and the Silver Age began, Superboy famously joined the Legion of Super-Heroes. That said, Clark Kent's time as Superboy has often been written in and out of the official DC continuity.
