The DC Future State event launching throughout January and February of 2021 includes a variety of new titles revamping its most iconic characters. All other DC comics lines will stop during the event, during which time the entirety of the plotlines of various versions of Superman (and the other Supers), several iterations of Wonder Woman, and the Legion of Super-Heroes will take place in the various releases under the Future State branding, and is said to be setting the stage for how DC's comic universe will continue going forward.

The launch titles are being broken down into three groups, each containing titles that are connected to each other in some way. This list focuses on the nine Superman Family titles, which include three oversized comics and six monthly mini-series and one-shots.

9 Future State: Superman Of Metropolis #1-2

The two-issue oversized anthology Future State: Superman of Metropolis features three stories. In "Superman of Metropolis" by Sean Lewis and John Timms, Clark Kent has left and passed the Superman title down to his son, Jonathan Kent. When fighting against a new version of Brainiac results in the Bottle City of Metropolis, the new Superman will face the ire of Supergirl.

The second story is "The Guardian" by Sean Lewis and Cully Hamner. Taking place inside the Bottle City of Metropolis, former Manhattan Guardian Jake Jordan finds himself up against anarchist Honest Mary. With the help of Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen, can Jordan save Metropolis from being torn down by Honest Mary?

The third and final story is "Mister Miracle" by Brandon Easton and Valentine De Landro. Mister Miracle— who in this book is Shilo Norman— must find a way out of the Bottle City. His story actually continues in the next anthology on this list.

8 Future State: Superman: Worlds Of War #1-4

The four-issue oversized anthology Future State: Superman: Worlds of War features four stories. "Superman: Worlds of War" by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Mikel Janin follows Clark Kent as he travels to Warworld to fight in the deadly pits of Mongul. In "Midnighter" by Becky Cloonan, Michael W. Conrad, and Gleb Melnikov, the vigilante Midnighter is looking to shut down a new energy source deadlier than Kryptonite.

In the third story, "Black Racer" by Jeremy Adams and Siya Oum, a girl raised in the slums of Warworld to become a fighter instead chooses to fight for her freedom as well as for the freedom of others like her. Lastly, the "Mister Miracle" story by Brandon Easton and Valentine De Landro continues the story of that character.

7 Future State: House Of El

Future State: House of El by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Scott Godlewski is a one-shot releasing in February. Little is known about it since only the January 2021 solicitations have been revealed in advance so far. But House of El seems to imply it will relate to the El family, a line of Kryptonians that include Superman's family.

6 Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman #1-2

The two-issue oversized anthology Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman features two stories. In "Immortal Wonder Woman" by Becky Cloonan, Michael W. Conrad, and Jen Bartel, the Undoing is coming, and most of Wonder Woman's sisters have passed. Now, banding together with the few amazons that are left, Diana Prince will face her toughest challenge yet against a foe even greater than Darkseid.

The second story, "Nubia" by L.L. McKinney, Alitha E. Martinez, and Mark Morales, takes place in a closer future and features the original champion of Themyscira, Nubia. Leaving behind Paradise Island, Nubia has made a home in Man's World and seeks to protect it from myths and magic."

5 Future State: Kara Zor-El, Superwoman

In the two-issue limited series Future State: Kara Zor-El, Superwoman by Marguerite Bennett and Marguerite Sauvage, former Supergirl Kara Zor-El is now Superwoman. At peace, she watches over the refugees on the Moon. But when a spaceship piloted by a runaway alien crash-lands on her turf, Kara must determine if this fugitive is friend or foe.

4 Future State: Legion Of Super-Heroes

In the two-shot Future State: Legion of Super-Heroes by Brian Michael Bendis and Riley Rossmo, the Legion of Super-Heroes no longer exists and one of their own has turned against the galaxy, leaving the United Planets in chaos. Not everyone makes it out alive and Ultra Boy tries to get the Legion back together again.

The book will feature fan-favorite Legionnaires like Shadow Lass, Triplicate Girl, Brainiac Five, and Bouncing Boy, as well as the Legion of Substitute Heroes.

3 Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman

In the two-issue limited series Future State: Superman/Wonder Woman by Dan Watters and Leila del Duca, two gods challenge each other to a contest of strength. Superman Jonathan Kent and Wonder Woman Yara Flor must save their cities from the ensuing chaos. That is if they can put aside their numerous differences.

2 Future State: Superman Vs. Imperious Lex

In the three-issue limited series Future State: Superman vs. Imperious Lex, by Mark Russell and Steve Pugh, Lex has created the utopia of Lexor, which is on its way to join the ranks of the United Planets and promote peace. But Superman and his wife Lois Lane have their concerns with Lex's track record, so they pay the planet of Lexor a visit on behalf of the United Planets.

1 Future State: Wonder Woman

Future State: Wonder Woman by Joëlle Jones introduces a new Wonder Woman. Yara Flot picks up the mantle to defend Man's world from magic. Atop her steed, she goes to the Underworld to save one of her Themysciran sisters from Hades.

This two-shot is billed as featuring the first appearance of a character who will change the history of Wonder Woman forever.
