Former Activision Blizzard esports executive Daniel Cherry has been named Senior Vice-President and General Manager of DC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cherry's role is a newly-created position covering business affairs editorial, talent services, marketing, sales, brand and direct to consumer, along with overseeing business development. The addition of Cherry will allow Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee to take on more DC brand responsibilities. Cherry will begin his DC duties on Sept. 8 and report to Pam Lifford, Warner Bros. Global Brands and Experience President.

As for Lee's new responsibilities, DC said "Lee will bring his unmatched creativity, passion and innate knowledge of the DC characters and canon to the company’s efforts to evolve the brand and create relevance for new audiences around the world." Cherry's role at Activision Blizzard involved broadening the studio's esports reach. He was previously the Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer for the NHL's New Jersey Devils

DC has undergone a restructuring after WarnerMedia implemented layoffs in August. Marie Javins and Michele Wells were named interim the interim replacements for the departing Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras.
