DC releases a new preview of The Flash's 800th issue milestone, Marvel's new Black Panther series drops its first trailer, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty comes to its end and more in this week's comics news.Here's a look at some of the biggest stories to break in the comics industry over the past seven days...

  • Eisner Award-nominated cartoonist Jay Stephens is returning to Oni Press publishing for Dwellings, a bi-monthly limited series that re-formats Stephens' self-published title. Each of Dwelling's three oversized issues features two different stories told over 72 pages. Dwellings launches on Aug. 9, 2023.
  • Tony S. Daniel is crafting a new fantasy series for Image Comics, Edenwood. Colored by Natália Marques, Edenwood debuts in Sept. 2023. The publisher said of the series, "An eons-long series of multiverse wars between demons and witches has found earth as its latest battleground. The battle pits Necronema, the demonic land which supplanted the Midwest twenty years ago, against Edenwood, the witchcraft controlled area of land that protects the rest of the U.S. In the first story arc of this ongoing series readers are introduced to Rion, a young man born during the apocalyptic events of southern Illinois, who is thrust into the role of hero and leader after killing a Gather, a transient demon with the powers to cross any barrier or dimension."
  • Humanoids announces a new sci-fi graphic novel, Project Arka: Into the Dark Unknown, based on the best-selling novel Pyramides by Romain Benassaya. Releasing June 20, 2023, Project Arka: Into the Dark Unknown is written by Benassaya and illustrated by Joan Urgell. Humanoids teased, "In the not-too-distant future, the Earth has been destroyed, its orbit withering and its citizens desperate to escape to the stars. The solution? Project Arka, a series of massive space vessels bound for the distant planet of Leonis."

DC's The Flash Celebrates Its 800th Issue Milestone

  • DC Comics released a new preview for The Flash #800, an oversized issue releasing on June 6, 2023, that features stories from a team of all-star creators.
  • The Flash #800 includes a villain-led story, "Don't Come to Central City," by Jeremy Adams, Ferando Pasarin, Oclair Albert and Matt Herms; a Max Mercury flashback, "The Max In The Mirror," which is set during Mark Waid's Impulse run and comes from Waid, Todd Nauck and Herms; a Barry and Iris West-starring entry, "Flash Family," by Joshua Williamson, Carmine Di Giandomenico and Ivan Plascencia; a Hunter Zolomon story, "Blitz Back," by Geoff Johns, Scott Kolins and Luis Guerrero; and Si Spurrier, Mike Deodato Jr. and Trish Mulvihill's "Between Me and You," which serves as a prelude to Spurrirer and Deodato Jr.'s new Flash series, which launches in Setp. 2023.

T'Challa Goes on the Run in Marvel's Black Panther Trailer

  • Marvel debuted the first trailer for the upcoming Black Panther reboot, which launches on June 14, 2023, from writer Eve L. Ewing, artist Chris Allen, inker Craig Yeung and colorist Jesus Aburtov.
  • The publisher said of the new series, "The new saga will see Black Panther serve Wakanda in a bold new way after he’s exiled from the throne. A king without a crown and a fugitive in his own homelands, T’Challa journeys deeper into Wakanda than ever before as he finds new purpose striking from the shadows of the Wakandan city that bears his father's name, Birnin T’Chaka. Operating as an undercover vigilante, Black Panther vows to remain the Wakandan people’s sworn protector by defending this broken city from danger. But as he tries to understand the heart of this city that feels it has been forgotten by the Black Panther, he’ll discover it has challenges unlike any he’s faced before, including powerful crime families and corruption that go against all that Wakanda stands for."

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty Reaches Its Final Stand

  • Marvel announced Captain America Finale #1, an oversized one-shot releasing in Aug. 2023, will mark the end of writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing and artist Carmen Carnero's run on the series. Featuring cover art by Carnero, Captain America Finale #1 releases on Aug. 16, 2023.
  • Marvel teased of the one-shot, "Steve will make his final stand against the Outer Circle, the new group of villains who now count Bucky Barnes as a member. Has Bucky finally come to his senses? Or will his misguided actions mark the end of one of comic book’s longest-standing friendships? Using information gathered from friends on the inside, Steve Rogers sets his sights on releasing the world from the Outer Circle’s influence and ending the Century Game for good. Daredevil and Elektra Tangle in One Final Dance

  • Marvel released new promotional artwork for Daredevil #12, which teases a final "dance" between Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Elektra as Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto's run reaches its conclusion.
  • Releasing June 7, 2023, the synopsis for Daredevil #12 reads, "Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto enter the ring for a championship bout as their senses-shattering run on DAREDEVIL reaches its most ambitious point yet! They’ve dragged Matt Murdock to the deepest and darkest places of his entire history – but they’re about to drag him even lower!"

Stranger Things' TMNT Crossover Gets Stunning New Cover Art

  • Artist Adam Gorham shared his variant cover -- which shows Donatello and Will Byers playing a round of Dungeons and Dragons together -- for IDW Publishing and Dark Horse Comics' TMNT and Stranger Things crossover.
  • Announced in April 2023, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things #1 releases on July 12, 2023, from writer Cameron Chittock and artist Fero Pe.
  • The synopsis for the issue reads, "Eleven, Max, Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas are looking forward to a nonthreatening, fun-filled trip to New York City. With the gang hundreds of miles from Hawkins, they’re sure to catch a break this time! That is, until they encounter a threat both bizarre and familiar…and some allies that are just bizarre! This summer, the kids from Hawkins meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"

The Avengers' New Enemies Are Trying to Murder Iron Man

  • Marvel revealed Stuart Immonen's new cover for Avengers #4, which shows Iron Man/Tony Stark battling Citysmith, a member of the Ashen Combine, which is a new team of biblical supervillains who are on a collision course with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Releasing Aug. 9, 2023, Avengers #4 is written by Jed Mackay and illustrated by C.F. Villa.
  • The Ashen Combine will face the Captain Marvel-led team in July's Avengers #3; however, the first issue of the new series (releasing May 17, 2023) will begin to tell the story of the villainous group of characters.
