Dark Nights: Death Metal is the latest series to get an Instagram-exclusive prelude from DC Comics.

The prelude, which is by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion, FCO Plascencia and Tom Napolitano, begins with Wonder Woman summoning Swamp Thing to Hell/Themyscira. There he informs her that many of their allies, including Harley Quinn, Aquaman and Superman, have been defeated by the Batman Who Laughs.

The prelude arrives just hours before Dark Nights: Death Metal #1 goes on sale. The sequel to Snyder, Capullo, Glapion and Plascencia's Dark Nights: Metal, the series will pit the Justice League against the Batman Who Laughs and Perpetua. The crossover event was originally supposed to begin on May 13 but was delayed to tomorrow due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A second digital prelude is set to release at an undisclosed date.

This is not the first time DC Comics has releases digital preludes to a major comic event on Instagram. The comics giant made a similar move with Batman #92, which featured the true introduction of Joker's new sidekick, Punchline.

Dark Nights: Death Metal #1, by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion and FCO Plascencia, goes on sale June 16 from DC Comics.
