In Task Force Z, a dead Suicide Squad member will get another shot at living - as a zombie.
DC Comics' December solicitations have revealed that Floyd Lawton AKA Deadshot will be resurrected to join the new undead squad this winter. The man who never misses has been dead for nearly a year now, having been killed off in last year's Suicide Squad run. Task Force Z's third issue promises the ghoulish return of the marksman with Lawton featured on the issue's cover.

Lawton's return was teased in solicitations for November's Task Force Z #2. The text stated that "a ghost from Suicide Squad past" would return in the issue, one that "no one will see coming," claiming the closing line to be a clue. With the reintroduction of Lawton, the hint now makes sense for readers and fans of Suicide Squad.
Before Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo teamed up to tell the story of Dick Grayson trying to save Blüdhaven in Nightwing, the two teamed up for stories like Injustice: Gods Among Us, Injustice 2 and last year's Suicide Squad, the ninth issue of the series closing with Deadshot's death. He was shot in both the chest and eye by Black Mask (hence, why he and readers wouldn't "see" this revelation coming). The writer and artist's run on the series ended with Harley Quinn visiting the daughter Lawton left behind, Zoe, and telling her stories of him while he was still alive.
Deadshot's addition to Task Force Z continues to buff out the team's roster of villains and questionable characters. Bat family member and antihero Red Hood will be leading the team, even sporting new zombie-slaying armor to do so. Also on the team will be Bane, Man-Bat, the Arkham Knight, Sundowner and Mr. Bloom.
The first in-comics mention of the new squad was seen in Suicide Squad #1 this past March, when Rick Flag confronted Amanda Waller about her plans for the future, which also included building a rival Justice League to take over Earth-3. Only featured as a name drop in that issue, the prelude for the new series has been building in the pages of Detective Comics, with Red Hood teaming up with reporter Deb Donovan to investigate the disappearances of villains' dead bodies. "What the #!$% is Task Force Z" is featured as the back-up story in Detective Comics #1041 through #1043.
Task Force Z #3 will be written by Matthew Rosenberg with interior and cover art by Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira. A variant cover will be created by Rodolfo Migliari, with a 1:25 variant by Pamela Hoogeboom. The issue goes on sale Dec. 28 from DC Comics.
