Come July, Tim "Red Robin" Drake won't be the only superhero convinced that Bruce Wayne has become lost in time. DC Comics announced today via their blog The Source that alongside Grant Morrison's time travel epic "The Return of Bruce Wayne" they'd also publish a six-issue series called "Time Masters: Vanishing Point" focusing on some marquee heroes quest to uncover what became of Batman.
Written and drawn by Dan Jurgens, "Time Masters" promises to not only continue some of the ideas the creator set out in his recent run on "Booster Gold's" solo title but also expand the scope of the "Return of Bruce Wayne" storyline to incorporate more heroes from the DC Universe including Gold and Rip Hunter as well as Superman and Green Lantern, as the released cover reveals. DC also noted that for the first issue, this new series would see a variant cover care of "Return" #1 artists Chris Sprouse and Karl Story and that "Time Masters" will apparently lead to "the next major DCU event."
"It's been a while since Dan Jurgens and I worked on his introduction of Vanishing Point into the DC Universe - but what's a 'while' to a coupla experienced time travelers like us!" project editor Mike Carlin told The Source. "When Dan introduced Waverider and the Linear Men to 'Superman' it was only a matter of time (sorry!) before Rip Hunter would be revealed to be a major player at the end of time. And now with the time-stream changing disappearance of Batman it's about time (sorry, again!) that DC's Time Masters took the search into their own hands! Add Booster Gold to the mix and the Time Masters just might have to deal with a detour or two - all the while hoping to find Batman before time unravels from Vanishing Point back to the big bang!"
