In the pantheon of DC villains, Ra's al Ghul is one of the most dangerous. Able to survive just about anything because of the Lazarus Pits, al Ghul has been enacting fiendish plans for years to try and make his goals a reality. He's a cunning strategist and warrior and has even beaten Batman in combat more than once. Any person who can beat Batman is a serious threat to just about anyone.

As skilled as he is, there are some foes that Ra's al Ghul just can't beat and some who he would have little to no chance against.

10 Talia al Ghul Was Able To Wrest The League Of Assassins Away From Her Father

Batman, Talia, and Ra's al Ghul from DC comics

Ra's al Ghul is all about family and he trained his daughter Talia to be one of the most skilled people in the world. For years, Talia was her father's right-hand woman, helping him in his plans and learning more and more. After his death at the hands of his other daughter Nyssa, Talia took over the League of Assassins and was able to keep it even after her father's return to life.

Few people have been able to beat Ra's as consistently as Talia has. She's spent enough time around him to know all of his weaknesses and she's grown beyond everything he's taught her to become a cunning combatant who always has his number.

9 Ra's al Ghul Couldn't Beat Barry Allen

Flash Barry Allen

While Ra's al Ghul has used Batman's anti-Flash plans against Wally West, he's never had a chance to use them against Barry Allen. While Wally is the fastest Flash, Barry has always had unique skills that have set him apart from other Flashes. Ra's and Barry haven't faced each other often but Barry has never lost to the immortal.

Ra's is tough and skilled but even with tricks, he'd be hard-pressed against Barry. Barry's experience has allowed him to defeat foes who seemingly had his number and Ra's is no different from any of those.

8 Hal Jordan's Ringslinging Skills Would Be Too Much For Ra's

Hal Jordan flying as Green Lantern

Hal Jordan has been a Green Lantern for a long time and has a reputation as one of the best in the business. While his constructs aren't always the most complicated, they are powered by his completely unshakeable will. Ra's al Ghul has dealt with Green Lanterns before but Hal is the OG and would be way too much for him.

Hal and Ra's haven't crossed paths very many times but even if Ra's could use one of his anti-Green Lantern plans against the hero, Hal is just too good for all of that. Even without the ring, Hal is one of the best and would take al Ghul down.

7 Swamp Thing Is Way Too Powerful For Ra's al Ghul

A man with a gun aimed at Swamp Thing

Swamp Thing is the most powerful guardian of the Green on the planet. This has allowed him to survive just about anything thrown at him and let him hand losses to heavy hitters like Superman and highly skilled heroes like Batman. He's gone through Hell and back and always managed to win his battles.

While some have been able to beat him, Ra's al Ghul would find it quite impossible. Swamp Thing is a foe who is beyond his skills completely and there's no doubt that al Ghul wouldn't be able to defeat Swamp Thing in battle.

6 Superman Was Able To Come Back And Help Take Down Ra's

Superman Flying

One of Ra's al Ghul's most successful moments was when he stole Batman's anti-Justice League plans and use them against the team. The League of Assassins was able to incapacitate each member of the team, including Superman. While he had them right where he wanted them, he couldn't beat them.

Batman was able to help get the group back on their feet and they struck back against al Ghul. Without Batman's plans, Superman was able to easily dispatch everything that Ra's threw at him and, along with the rest of the League, came back and defeated the villain. Ra's has given the League a wide berth ever since.

5 Without Batman's Plans, Ra's al Ghul Doesn't Stand A Chance Against Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman #775

Wonder Woman was a member of the Justice League when al Ghul attacked and she was just as affected as any of them. Just like the rest of the team, she was able to overcome the attack and strike back, cutting through the League of Assassins like a hot knife through butter. Like the rest of the team, she helped make quick work of al Ghul.

Since then, al Ghul learned a valuable lesson, one that many villains throughout the DC Universe have learned: Wonder Woman is no joke. Even with a patented anti-Wonder Woman plan developed by Batman, Ra's couldn't beat her.

4 Wally West Was Able To Outrun The Trick Ra's Used Against Him

The Flash Wally West

Wally West is the fastest Flash of them all, having spent most of his life mastering the power of the Speed Force. His time with the Justice League proved that he could handle anything the universe threw at him and that included al Ghul. Even with Batman's anti-Flash plan and the full power of the League of Assassins behind him, Ra's al Ghul couldn't keep Wally down.

Wally's years of experience allowed him to think outside the box and overcome the Batman-created method al Ghul used to deal with him. Wally has always proven to be a wily opponent and he showed it, beating al Ghul along with the rest of the League.

3 Tim Drake Is The Only Robin To Never Fall To Ra's

Tim Drake Death - Detective Comics

Each Robin has advantages over the other but the one who was probably the most balanced was Tim Drake. He was great at everything and this is one of the many reasons that he has such a great reputation among the Robins. Tim helped out Batman against Ra's on many occasions and unlike some of the other Robins, never lost a fight to Ra's.

Tim could wade through the League of Assassins with the best of them and was able to always keep himself out of al Ghul's clutches, something not even Dick Grayson could boast. Tim is the total package and al Ghul knows it.

2 Nyssa al Ghul Was Able To Do What No One Else Could And Kill Her Father

Nyssa Al Ghul

Nyssa al Ghul was born in the 18th century and was taken under her father's wing. He allowed her to use the Lazarus Pits but eventually, she became disillusioned with her father's genocidal plans and left his side. She would return to his life in the 21st century but instead of helping him, she'd end up destroying him.

Nyssa killed her father and he stayed dead for years. While he would eventually return to life, Ra's al Ghul would never be able to avenge himself against her, as she was killed by the League of Assassins while he was still dead.

1 Ra's al Ghul Battled The Legion Of Superheroes And Couldn't Defeat Them

The Legion Of Superheroes Justice League

The Lazarus Pits have kept al Ghul alive for a long time and that extended into the far future of the Legion of Superheroes. Forgotten by time, al Ghul was able to get elected president of the United Planets and enacted plans to destroy the Legion of Superheroes. While he had some successes against the team, he was never able to defeat them.

The Legion of Superheroes is massive and even with millennia of experience, he wasn't able to defeat the team. They didn't have that problem, as the team was able to take down al Ghul and end his threat to the galaxy.
