While the first issue of DC Comics’ New 52 relaunch of “Birds of Prey” has yet to hit the hands of fans, DC has released David Finch and Richard Friend’s cover to issue #4 of the series while promising a major change in the team’s status quo. Series writer Duane Swierczynski discusses the shift in tone for his and artist Jesus Saiz’s title this morning on DC’s blog, The Source.

That’s what I’m shooting for with this first arc of BIRDS OF PREY. I won’t tell you where it is (other than somewhere in issue #4) But If I’m doing my job, you’ll be relaxing, enjoying your comic, and then…”
“Birds of Prey” #1 debuts September 21 while issue 4 hits in December.
