Doctor Harleen Quinzel wasn't always a super-villain, you know. She was once a psychiatrist at the Arkham Asylum facility where she met the Clown Prince of Crime. The Joker became her obsession in the treatment facility which eventually drove her nuts. Not only did the Joker entice her, but he also manipulated her into jailbreaking. That was that. From thereon begun Harley Quinn's descent into full-blown madness.
In which case, what would Harley's superpowers be? Not significant. Besides DC claiming to give her superhuman agility, intelligence (she was a doctor after all), and enhanced strength, Harley relies on her weapons from time to time. The fact is, you don't watch Harley for her combat skills, you watch Harley for her bubbly attitude and psychotic behavior. However, when she makes use of her weapons, she does it with class. Here are ten of her most favorite weapons.
10 BASEBALL BAT
Harley's iconic baseball bat will be remembered long after she's ceased to exist. The Margot Robbie rendition of Harley Quinn particularly popularised the Baseball Bat. You think of Harley, your mind immediately goes to Margot Robbie in a t-shirt that says 'daddy's li'l monster's, swinging the bat around.
It's probably Harley's easiest weapon of choice, given it comes in handy. Harley's iconic baseball bat had made appearances in Arkham Asylum, Arkham City (game) and the log action movie, Suicide Squad.
9 WARDEN'S CANE
The most exhilarating way that Harley has made use of a weapon this far. In Arkham Asylum, Harley Quinn used Quincy Sharp's cane on him. Quincy Sharp made his first appearance in Batman: Arkham Asylum as the warden of the Asylum. It was later revealed that Quincy was acting on Hugo Strange's behest and killing people within the Asylum.
In this particular altercation, Harley took Quincy as a hostage in a chamber and gagged him. Moments later, she hit him with his own cane over the head. Harley didn't stop here, she took Sharp to the penitentiary and forced him to read aloud bizarre things.
8 PACK OF HYENAS
Harley's loyal beasts are her Hyenas. In Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Margot Robbie was pictured beside a hyena. In other comic variations, Harley owns two Hyenas. They are called Bud and Lou, named after the comedy duo Bud Abbott and Lou Costello of '50s.
Before the Hyenas came in her life, they were locked in a cage in Gotham City Zoo. From thereon, Harley has used them to rip her enemies apart in Batman: The Animated Series, The Batman, Krypto the Superdog, Justice League Action.
7 KNIFE
Our clown princess owns various kinds of pocket knives. From using daggers in Injustice 2, to flip knives, knives are an example of common weapons between her and the Joker. Knives serve a dual purpose for Harley. One they are handy, so they can be pocketed, and two, given Harley's agility, knives make an ideal weapon.
One of the most iconic scenes in Suicide Squad was when the Joker encircled himself with his knives before laying the prostate in the middle, with baby clothes strewn around. The scene symbolized many things, including Harley's supposedly pregnancy, to both of them having a common love for violence.
6 FIREARMS
Harley Quinn is skilled with firearms, she knows her bazookas and joke guns. She's often spotted with guns in her hand and being the good villain that she is, never shies away from using them. Because she's highly agile, it makes her a highly efficient shooter.
Harley often holds two elaborately decorated matching pistols, one in each hand. She's used her guns in almost every story arc, game or live-action movie that she's been a part of. Harley is known to have used assault rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, and modified flare guns.
5 JACK IN THE BOX
Harley Quinn's weird fetishes know no bounds. She has her diamond crowned Jack in the box in Arkham Knight. She uses this to capture the attention of her enemies, sort of like fish bait. Once the trap is laid and her enemies are near, the box explodes thereby killing her foes. There's more, this is no ordinary jack in the box, for Harley uses stun guns to operate it.
In Arkham Knight, Harley bombarded her enemies with 15 such odd boxes. The incident took place in the Panessa Studios. In A Matter of Family, DLC Harley used Jack in the box as a messaging device. She left notes inside the boxes written to baffle her enemies.
4 SNARE TRAP
Harley Quinn has been given diverse weapons of choice in Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight. The comic rendition of her sports the usual firearms and mallets.
In Arkham Knight, Harley uses a snare trap against her enemies. Consider it to be a freeze blast created by Doctor Freeze. In that, it can be laid on the ground and it denotes later. Similarly, Harley's snare trap is planted deep into the ground like a mine. The enemies thus can be stopped from moving and charging towards her.
3 LAUGHING GAS/TOUCH
In an ode to her lover, Harley Quinn makes use of her Laughing Gas/Touch to take down her enemies. She's done it in Arkham City and various comic series. Harley's known to have used the laughing Touch on Nightwing resting in her ring, after almost losing to him in combat.
She's also used the laughing gas on her ex-boss Doctor Joan Leland while escaping the Arkham Asylum. In this case, the gas is contained in a perfume-like bottle which she sprays on her boss. In another instance, she stores the gas in small canisters.
2 BOMBS
Harley Quinn has used various bombs from time to time. Some are laughing gas grenades, whilst others are harmless. We say harmless because they are only used to put her enemies to sleep. First off, Harley has used the Laughing Gas grenades in Arkham City (Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC) in the form of Smilex. However, the Caped Crusader was able to defuse them in the nick of time. In Arkham Knight (Harley Quinn's Story Pack) she used different forms laughing gas grenade.
This kind is used to give your enemies a slip by creating a smokescreen. Harley had used a gas bomb in Wonder Woman's deep to knock her out. She broke into Diana's apartment by disguising as a flower delivery service employee. On a side note, this incident is one of those Harley Shenanigans, for she meant no real harm.
1 WOODEN MALLET
None of the weapons are as constant as Harley Quinn's good old wooden Mallet. It's her primary weapon of choice. The mallet is basically a giant wooden hammer that was given to her character in The New Batman Adventures.
She shoplifted it from a toy store while hiding from Batman. Harley has used it to hit Batman, to knock a biker's head off, amongst other lovely things. Harley's Mallett is a versatile weapon. She prefers it, "cause she don't run outta bullets!"
