This past Friday, DC Comics helped kick off RTX Austin 2019 by revealing the creative teams attached to its upcoming RWBY and gen:LOCK comics, as well as offering a sneak peek at the first RWBY cover art. DC has now bookended the weekend by unveiling its first gen:LOCK cover art.

The cover, which was posted to the official gen:LOCK Twitter page, sees the main characters of Rooster Teeth Animation's dystopian sci-fi series charging forward. Looming above them are the unique mechas they pilot.

gen:LOCK follows a group of pilots who are recruited to control mechas, which they link to neurologically, in an effort to save their futuristic world from an oppressive authoritarian regime. The series, which stars Black Panther's Michael B. Jordan, premiered on the Rooster Teeth website this past January. At last year's New York Comic Con, Rooster Teeth announced they had partnered with DC to produce comics based on gen:LOCK and RWBY.

DC's gen:LOCK series will be written by Collin Kelley and Jackson Lanzig and illustrated by Carlo Barbieri. Meanwhile, RWBY will be helmed by the creative team of writer Marguerite Bennett and artists Mirka Andolfo and Arif Prianto.

The RWBY comic will be released digitally starting in late August, followed by gen:LOCK in September. The comics will alternate weekly, with two new digital chapters being released every month. These chapters will be collected in monthly print issues. The first print issues for each series will feature a special variant cover by DC's Jim Lee.
