DC Comics collects 'T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents'

DC Comics announced today that they will be offering an archive of the groundbreaking 1960s series, "T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents."

[T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents]According to the Toonopedia.com Web site the series was originally published by Tower Comics starting in November of 1965. The series was created by Wallace Wood, the series found a number of top talent from comics history working on the book including Gil Kane, Mike Sekowsky, Reed Crandall and Ogden Whitney.

"T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents" Archives Volume 1 reprints the first four issues of the series which introduced the characters Dynamo, NoMan, Menthor and the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Squad as they battled the Warlord, the leader of a mysterious organization bent on taking over the world. The archive will be 256-pages hardcover arriving in stores December 4 with a cover price of $49.95.

"I remember the exact moment I saw T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS #1 on thenewsstand," said comics writer and movie producer Michael Uslan in a release from DC, whoworked with DC to initiate the archive series. "The publisher, TowerComics, was a company I never heard of. Inside, I found phenomenal art,along with new heroes - Dynamo, NoMan and Menthor - who were exciting,captivating, and totally different in tone from the DC, Marvel, Charlton,Gold Key, and Dell comic book super-heroes I'd been reading andcollecting." Uslan also co-writes the introduction to this volume withcomics historian Robert Klein.

"I know the fans are gonna love this first-class treatment," said JohnCarbonaro in the release, the project's Editorial Consulant. "I can sense the excitementin the air."

[Dynamo]Future volumes are plannet that will collect later issues of "T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents" along with spin-off titles "Dynamo" and "NoMan."

In addition to the arhive DC is also offering a statue featuring the team's top operative, Dynamo. ".H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents: Dynamo Statue" will be the first in a series of statues from DC Direct. Sculpted by William Paquet, this hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain statue stands approximately 9 1/8" tall x 7" wide and will be limited to a run of only 1500. It will aloso be available on December 4 with a retail price of $149.95.
