There are few DC villains viler than the Joker. His insanity spurs on his crimes and he has a massive body count. Joker lives for the chaos and his potential for bloodshed has made him one of Batman's greatest foes. He and Batman have had some hellacious battles, ones that the Dark Knight has gotten through by the skin of his teeth. While Batman is Joker's most well-known foe, he's not the only hero who has fought the Clown Prince of Crime.

There are lots of DC heroes out there that Joker has tangled with that no one would have expected. As terrifying as the Joker is, he lost a lot of battles.

10 Superman Has Beaten The Joker A Lot Over The Years

Superman vs Lobo 2 Header

Superman is one of DC's greatest role models and he's taken down a lot of villains to achieve this status. Because he is DC's number one hero, he's found himself fighting the Joker on many occasions, usually, while the Joker was a member of a villain team like the Injustice League or Legion of Doom. He has also beaten the Clown Prince by himself.

One of the most notable times Superman beat Joker was in the Injustice comics when Superman punched through the Joker after the villain forced Superman to kill Lois Lane. While it's not something the main universe Superman would do, it's still a memorable visual and a definitive defeat for the Clown.

9 Tim Drake Beat Joker On One Of His First Outings

Tim Drake Talking To Barbara Oracle

Saying Tim Drake beat Joker seems like a no-brainer since as Robin he's helped Batman beat the Dark Knight's arch-foe many times. What most people forget is that he's beaten Joker on his own and most impressively in one of his first outings. Once Joker heard there was a Robin in town, he sprung into action, trying to add another Robin kill to his total.

Tim proved just how great of a Robin he'd become by taking the Joker down all by himself. While it was certainly dangerous and not at all easy for the young man, he proved to be more than up to the challenge, defeating the Joker on his own.

8 Wonder Woman Has Handed Joker A Loss

If one hero seems like an improbable match for the Joker, it's Wonder Woman. The two move in completely different circles. Wonder Woman mostly faces down gods and monsters, only occasionally battling supervillains. The two have clashed several times, most notably in the '90s.

The fight was a little one-sided, of course, as Joker couldn't hang with Wonder Woman physically at all. That didn't stop him from trying but there was little he could do to hurt her and she made sure he understood that.

7 Aquaman & Joker Tangled When The Clown Prince Took Over Atlantis

As improbable as it seems, the Joker was once able to take over Atlantis, manipulating a scientist named Felua to help him do so. Aquaman went to the surface to get help from Batman, who gave him a method to overcome any of the Joker's poisons. In Atlantis, Aquaman took the fight to the Joker and was able to beat him, although the clown did escape.

Joker held up better than anyone would have expected, but once Aquaman got going, there was nothing that Joker could do to stop him. Even though he escaped, he learned a valuable lesson that day: don't go down to Atlantis and mess with its king.

6 Rorschach Beat Up The Joker In Doomsday Clock

Rorschach II from Doomsday Clock

For years, people wondered how Rorschach would do against the Joker, and Doomsday Clock sort of answered that question. While the Rorschach in that book wasn't Walter Kovacs, but Reggie Long, the son of Rorschach's prison therapist, he did end up encountering Joker. While Reggie wasn't exactly the most dangerous incarnation of Rorschach, he proved to be more than tough enough against the Joker.

It wasn't exactly the fight fans thought they wanted, but a Rorschach did defeat the Joker. Anyone beating the Joker is impressive and this one still counted.

5 Barbara Gordon Got Revenge Against The Joker

Barbara Gordon as Batgirl

Barbara Gordon is the original Batgirl, and probably the best hero to wear that mantle. Joker ended her career as Batgirl for a time, shooting her in the stomach and hitting her spine. This put her in a wheelchair for years and she became the Oracle, using her other skills to help out the heroes.

Her fear of the Joker was always with her, though, and it took time for her to get the courage to face him again. When she did, she overcame her phobia of the Joker and got revenge for what he did to her. She's faced him several times over the years and has always defeated him, even though many fans only remember when he ambushed her with a gun.

4 Black Canary Has Taken Down Joker As A Bird Of Prey

Black Canary is one of the toughest heroes in the DC Universe and during her time as a Bird of Prey, she fought all kinds of villains. Her battle against the Joker is one of the most interesting. He was acting as the ambassador of the Middle Eastern nation of Qurac and threatened to use their nuclear weapons against the rest of the world unless their demands were met.

Black Canary and Oracle sprung into action, working together to end Joker's threat. When it finally came down to the fight between Canary and Joker, Black Canary very easily took the win. Joker is good, but Black Canary is just way better.

3 Red Hood Got His Vengeance Against The Joker

Red Hood Task Force Z

Red Hood and Joker have a history, as Joker was responsible for killing Jason Todd. When Todd returned as Red Hood, he was a very different person than before, a much more brutal man. Todd had a grudge against Batman and the Joker: Joker for killing him and Batman for not avenging him. Red Hood would eventually get his hands on Joker and it wasn't pretty.

Since then, Red Hood has beaten the Joker several times. Most of the time, he's been held back from killing the Joker but he did get to kill the man who killed him, one of the three Jokers in Batman: Three Jokers.

2 Martian Manhunter Beat Joker In A Very Unconventional Manner

Martian Manhunter J'onn J'onzz

Martian Manhunter is one of the most powerful heroes around. Few have the mix of powers he has and it was those powers that allowed him to defeat the Joker. In the classic story JLA: Rock Of Ages, Joker was a member of Lex Luthor's Injustice Gang and eventually got his hands on the Philosopher's Stone, an object of great power.

He began to attack the Earth with its power but Martian Manhunter sprung into action, going into Joker's mind and fixing it for a short time. The Joker repaired the damage he did, gave up the Stone, and allowed the Justice League to take him into custody. It was an unconventional loss, but it was a loss nonetheless.

1 Magog Killed Joker In Kingdom Come

Magog in Kingdom Come

Kingdom Come is one of DC's greatest '90s stories. One of the story's inciting incidents was Superman leaving Metropolis after Joker killed the entire newsroom of The Daily Planet. Batman, Superman, and new hero Magog hunted down the Joker but Magog got to Joker first and killed him. Later, Magog would challenge Superman to a fight and Superman retired rather than battle him.

Magog did what no one else had ever done and killed the Joker. While the other heroes weren't exactly happy about it, it's hard to deny that Joker deserved it for his years of atrocities, and it was probably the only way to stop him from killing again.
