Booster Gold has always been the goofy screwup of the DC universe. Recent years have brought Booster Gold back to the forefront, between Heroes in Crisis and Tom King's love for the character, he has been more in the public eye than he has been for a while!

Even with all this recent fame though, most people don't know too much about Mr. Michael Jon Carter, but hopefully, that will change because this loveable goofball deserves and desires the spotlight more than anything! So let's hope DC keeps this Booster Gold train rolling and gives us more of this time-displaced misfit.

10 Man Out Of Time

Booster Gold's real name is Michael Jon Carter and he is not from this decade...or even this century. Carter is from the 25th Century and he was a screwup there also.

He was a star football player who got caught cheating, he was lucky to find a job as a night watchman at a museum. There he studied the heroes of old and decided to steal a time sphere and some equipment and go back and be a hero.

9 Heroism Runs In The Family

Booster Gold isn't the only costumed superhero in the family, his twin sister Michelle also is one. She came back in time and donned the costume and name of Goldstar! Her suit is magnetically power, she can fly and fire blasters from her wrist just like her brother.

Like most superhero's she was thought to be dead at one point but, of course she wasn't. She was even living in Coast City, right before its obliteration, and Booster had to save her from certain death during the cities destruction.

8 Daddy Issues

To say Booster Gold's family is confusing is the understatement of the year. In 2008's Booster Gold #4, It was revealed that Jonar Carter, Michael's deadbeat dad, was working against him using the persona of Supernova.

He was acting as an agent of chaos for evil men, as well as being out to destroy Booster and remind him that he will always be a disappointment and a failure. Pretty hard to succeed when your own father is so set against you.

7 Batpoint

In 2018, Batman and Catwoman were about to get married, so in Batman #45, Booster Gold revealed their wedding gift. Booster thought if he showed Batman what life was like with his parents he would still think his life without them was great.

This backfired majorly, without Bruce's Batman, Hal Jordan killed himself, Catwoman was a feral murder and Batman used guns, the world was a mess, this was only fixed when present Booster stopped past Booster from saving Thomas and Martha Wayne.

6 No Place Like Krypton

In Action Comics #992, Superman was struggling with the truth that is father, Jor-El, survived the destruction of Krypton. So when he decided to travel back in time to see the end of Krypton, of course, Booster got involved.

Booster followed him back in time to make sure Superman didn't get caught on the planet when it blew up. As usual it didn't go as planned, they ended up traveling through time and realities until they finally arrived home safely, but maybe a little worse for wear.

5 Saving Batgirl

In Booster Gold #5, Michael decided he needed to save Batgirl from being paralyzed by the Joker. This is a devastating attempt, because no matter what he does he cannot prevent the events of The Killing Joke.

Booster tries everything he can to stop this horrific event, but ultimately learns that some events cannot be changed, they are stuck points in time and must be maintained. It is a hard lesson but comes with the territory when you are protecting the timeline.

4 Accused Of Murder

When Tom King and Clay Mann's Heroes In Crisis hit the shelves, people were excited to pick it up. The story was about the gruesome murders of heroes in a place that was meant to help them mentally recover, a place called Sanctuary.

Michael is accused of committing these heinous acts but is ultimately found innocent when it is discovered that Wally West killed those people. Unfortunately it stopped Booster and many others from getting the help they needed.

3 Turned Down Justice League Membership

When Booster Gold's new run started in 2008, he was offered membership to join The Justice League, but he turned it down. He was shown by his son, Rip Hunter, who has been featured on the CW's Legends of Tomorrowthat if he joined The Justice League, heroes would die.

In order to protect them, he had to deny their invitation and remain the guy who is a loser and screwup, as well as The Greatest Hero You've Never Heard of!

2 All About The Money

When Michael first came back to the past, he was not the hero that the people know and love, he was looking to cash in. He sold out big time, and it earned him a bad reputation in the Superhero Community.

It was extremely frowned upon to leverage your heroism for personal gain. Booster Gold has made some big mistakes, and this is was definitely one of them, and it took him a while to live it down.

1 He Named Doomsday

In 1992, Doomsday began his path of destruction, which would lead to his and Superman's death. Booster Gold was among the first members of the Justice League to encounter Doomsday, and in fact Booster even unintentionally named him.

When they were fighting him, Michael was so taken back by the aggressiveness of the creature that he told Superman "It's like Doomsday is here!" That's a pretty big claim to fame to have been the one to name Doomsday.
