The DC Extended Universe's upcoming Blue Beetle film has cast Sharon Stone as one of its villains.

According to TheWrap, Stone will play Victoria Kord. At this time, little is known about Kord, who is a character created specifically for the film. However, she does share a name with Ted Kord, the second version of Blue Beetle. Previous reports about Blue Beetle claim Kord will be one of two villains in the film, with the second being Conrad Carapax/Carapax the Indestructible Man.

Stone is known for her roles in such films as 1990's Total Recall, 1992's Basic Instinct and 1995's Casino. She's won a number of high-profile awards over the years, including a Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Casino.

Originally slated to be an HBO Max exclusive, little is known about Blue Beetle at this time. However, the movie will star Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle alongside George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo and Damián Alcázar as members of Reyes's family. Harvey Guillén, who plays Guillermo de la Cruz in FX's What We Do in the Shadows, will also have a part in the project, though his role is not known at this time.

Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers and Cully Hamner, Reyes first appeared in 2006's Infinite Crisis #3 and is the third person to hold the title of Blue Beetle after Dan Garrett and Kord. Reyes gets his powers by bonding with a mystical Scarab and is, with help from it, given a bevy of standard superhero powers as well as the ability to manipulate energy. Reyes has appeared in several different DC projects, including Smallville and Young Justice.

The DCEU launched in 2013 with Man of Steel, which was directed by Zack Snyder from a script by David S. Goyer. Since that cinematic universe's launch, there have been a number of different movies focused on some of DC's biggest and most beloved characters. Currently, the next DCEU film scheduled for release is Black Adam, which hits theaters on October 21.

Directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, Blue Beetle is slated to arrive in theaters on Aug. 18, 2023.
