Black Adam is one of the greatest anti-heroes in DC Comics. A very complicated character, Black Adam started life as a villain before joining up with the Justice Society of America. His time with the team would endear him to fans and give him time in the limelight he'd never gotten in his long history of fighting Shazam.
Brutally freeing his home country from oppression, Black Adam would become a player in the DC Universe, going through a lot of ups and downs over the years. Black Adam is one of the most powerful beings on the planet, so how would he do against the X-Men? Which X-Men would Black Adam defeat? Which ones would he lose to?
10 Can Beat: Gambit
Gambit has gone through a lot of changes over the years and his ability to charge objects with kinetic energy makes him a daunting foe. However, as good as he is, Gambit just can't hang with Black Adam. Black Adam's speed and mobility, not to mention his incredible strength and durability, give him a massive advantage over Gambit.
Gambit is fast but he's just not fast enough. His strikes against Black Adam would be pretty ineffectual and Black Adam would be able to shrug them off and deal with Gambit in his trademark lethal manner with little to no problem.
9 Would Lose To: Iceman
Iceman was always an underrated member of the X-Men, the joker who could freeze things. However, his control over his powers grew over the years and he's now one of the most powerful X-Men. While Black Adam would be able to take an early advantage, Iceman has more than enough power to take the DC character down.
Black Adam would be able to break through any ice-based defenses Iceman could put up, keeping the mutant on his toes. As things got closer and closer to disaster, Iceman would go for the nuclear option and freeze all of the fluid in Black Adam's body down to absolute zero, ending the fight.
8 Can Beat: Rogue
Rogue's power absorption abilities make her a daunting foe but it's debatable if she could even have an effect on Black Adam; his powers don't come from him but from the magical lightning of the wizard Shazam. Even if they could, though, Black Adam is just way too skilled for Rogue and his killer instinct give him a huge advantage.
Black Adam's hard-hitting brutal style would let him do a lot of damage right off the bat, enough to knock Rogue for a loop. Even if she was able to absorb some of his power, it wouldn't do her a lot of good, as that would just anger Black Adam and make him go at her that much harder. Regardless of the circumstances, Rogue is going down.
7 Would Lose To: Magneto
One of the most powerful mutants on the planet, Magneto's magnetic powers will allow him to do a lot of damage to Black Adam. He can raise magnetic force fields to protect himself from Black Adam's powerful attacks and he has a multitude of weapons he can use against him.
However, it's not those things that will win the fight for Magneto. Black Adam's a very durable fighter, able to take shots from some of the strongest superheroes in the DC Universe. However, he's still human, which means there is iron in his blood. Magneto can just stop the blood flow to Black Adam's brain and give him a massive stroke, ending the fight.
6 Can Beat: Beast
One of the founding X-Men, Beast is as strong as he is smart and while he's made some mistakes over the years, he's one of the X-Men's most stalwart members. Unfortunately for Beast, he's just nowhere near strong or fast enough to be able to hurt Black Adam and that's going to cost him; Black Adam is just too powerful for Beast to deal with.
In fact, this would probably be one of those fights that Black Adam ends almost immediately. He's much too fast for Beast and would be fly at and through him before Beast could make a move.
5 Would Lose To: Professor X
Professor X isn't much of a fighter. Far from it, in fact. Having spent most of his life in a wheelchair, the X-Men's founder instead has learned to fall back on his telepathic skills, which are second to none. It's those powers that will allow him to easily defeat Black Adam.
As fast as Black Adam is, Professor X's mental powers work at the speed of thought. He'd be able to sense Black Adam coming and take action, shutting down his mind and putting him out of commission. If Black Adam's lucky, Professor X won't leave him a complete vegetable.
4 Can Beat: Colossus
The X-Men's strongest member, Colossus has been able to trade blows with some powerful opponents. His amazing strength and organic steel frame allow him to give as good as he gets. However, Black Adam is much stronger, faster, and more mobile than anyone Colossus has ever faced. This combination is going to prove calamitous for the X-Man.
Colossus will put up a good fight but Black Adam's flight and speed will allow him to do so much more damage than Colossus can take. Black Adam could fly circles around Colossus, hitting him with incredibly powerful blows that would take their toll. It might take him a bit, but Black Adam would bust Colossus down to size.
3 Would Lose To: Magik
Magik's teleportation disks allow her to go anywhere but that's not the thing that makes her one of the most powerful X-Men – it's her magical skills. Learned in the realm of Limbo, which she would eventually take over, they give her the edge she'll need against Black Adam.
Magik's Soulsword is made to assault beings with magical abilities and will prove especially effective against Black Adam. Magik will use her teleport disks to keep moving, striking at Black Adam from every angle. As things start to get drastic, Magik will summon up some Limbo demons to attack Black Adam and if that doesn't work, her pragmatic side will kick in and she'll just teleport his head off his shoulders.
2 Can Beat: Cyclops
The X-Men's leader, Cyclops has been a superhero for most of life, constantly training himself and his teammates. One of the greatest leaders in the history of the Marvel Universe, Cyclops is way more formidable than he seems but none of that will help him against Black Adam.
Cyclops's optic blasts will allow him to get some hits in on Black Adam. At their most powerful, they can pulverize mountains...and that would hardly have an effect on Black Adam. The other problem would be hitting Black Adam – after the first few shots, he's not going to stay still and let Cyclops blast away at him. Black Adam will stay mobile and bring the fight to Cyclops, taking him out with a few shots.
1 Would Lose To: Jean Grey
Jean Grey's titanic telepathic and telekinetic might make her one of the most formidable X-Men of them all. As powerful as Black Adam is, he just can't stand up to the kind of power that Jean Grey brings to the table. Her telekinesis gives her multiple attack and defensive options, while her telepathy will allow her to attack him in ways he's not used to.
Jean can protect herself from Black Adam's attacks indefinitely while hitting him with everything and anything around. If this wasn't enough, she could just use her telepathy to shut him down, ending the fight and Black Adam with a thought.
