After experiencing a major delay due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the upcoming DC Extended Universe film Black Adam is finally set to begin production in 2021.

According to Deadline, several different projects will begin filming in Georgia soon, which includes the Dwayne Johnson-led DCEU movie. However, while it's slated to begin principal photography in 2021, an official production start date for Black Adam hasn't been officially revealed.

Initially, Black Adam was planned to begin filming in the summer of 2020 alongside the sequel to 2019's Shazam! before the pandemic caused the delay of both films' production start dates. At the time of this writing, Shazam! 2 remains in limbo.

Black Adam will feature Johnson playing the eponymous antihero, an ancient Egyptian with similar powers to those of Shazam/Captain Marvel. While little information about the film has surfaced, Johnson teased a  Black Adam presence at the upcoming DC FanDome.

Much of Black Adam's cast has yet to be revealed, but it was recently announced that To All the Boys I've Loved Before's Noah Centineo is joining the film as Atom Smasher/Albert Rothstein.
