While DC Comics may have a wealth of fictional cities brimming with fantastic and amazing superheroes, not all of them are safe to live in. For many, the massive crime rates and the very common massive property damage as a result of a single fight would push many away from living in these cities. Cities such as Bludhaven and Gotham City are so ridden with crime and destruction that it's a wonder why anyone would ever choose to live there. And states like Washington DC are prime targets for invasions and large-scale attacks as the state is home to both the center of the American government and the Hall of Justice, which are treated like a rite of passage for villains.

Speaking of Bludhaven, that particular city and the West Coast city of Coast City have both been nuked in the past for different reasons. Millions of people are often killed as a result of these superhero battles, and while they have been rebuilt, they've never returned to their former glory. However, there are some cities which are quite safe to live in, whether that be because the resident heroes are very good at their jobs, or because nothing big ever happens there.

5 Metropolis Is One Of Most Advanced Cities On Earth

City of Metropolis in Action Comics Vol 1 #261.

Home to not only the most superhero on the planet but also some of the most advanced scientific institutes in the world, Metropolis is a relatively safe city. Small-time crimes such as robberies and break-ins are solved almost instantly, meaning that the citizens are safe for the day-to-day. But, what may make some reconsider moving to the city would be the attacks from Brainiac, or Darkseid, or Luthor, or Kalibak, or Mongol, and the list goes on.

The problem is that Superman has so many city-destroying enemies that many would find it too dangerous. However, a massive upside to living in Metropolis is the incredible scientific field born from institutes such as Star Labs which are constantly revolutionizing the world of physics every day.

4 San Francisco Is Home To The Titans Academy

DC Comics Teen Titans Tower

Despite what the comics tend to show, real-world cities often make an appearance in the world of DC. Cities such as New York, California, and San Francisco especially are frequently mentioned. The city of San Francisco was the home of the Teen Titans headquarters Titans Tower and is now home to the Titans Academy where young heroes are trained for the future. What makes this city so safe is that there are never any massive fights there.

Since the Teen Titans are rarely involved in major storylines, this leaves the streets of San Francisco untouched by the likes of Darkseid. Yet what many may find to be the first obstacle is the real-world high cost of living for the city.

3 Shiruta Is More Peaceful Than Some Would Think

Black Adam and Isis in Kahndaq from Injustice Gods Among Us

While, yes, Black Adam is technically a villain who illegally conquered a portion of the Middle East to re-establish his ancient kingdom of Kahndaq, it turns out that he created a very peaceful society. The country’s capital of Shiruta rarely has any notion of a high crime rate and it is uncommon for villains to ever set foot on Kahndaq territory.

The laws seem fair and quite liberal. While Adam is the reigning monarch of the country, his people are free to live as they please without fear of persecution. Adam works hard to protect his people and his country, despite his status as a villain.

2  New Metropolis Is The City Of Tomorrow

Legion of Super-Heroes #1 cover detail

Home to the superhero team of tomorrow, the Legion of Superheroes protects the citizens of the United Federation of Planets in the 31st Century. With the planet of Earth destroyed, several space station cities were built to replicate notable locations of Earth's history. Cities such as Gotham and Metropolis were rebuilt to house the many refugees of Earth. Built with the technology of the far future, New Metropolis is equipped to protect its citizens from the threats of any superhuman individual or villains that may try to cause harm. Alongside a well-equipped police force is the city-wide AI that can do everything from notifying authorities of a crime taking place to opening underground bunkers.

The citizens of New Metropolis are also under the protection of the Legion itself, a team of superheroes from across the galaxy officially recognized by the Federation.

1 Central City Is Always Able To Make A Speedy Recovery

Flash Museum

Central City may be the safest city in DC. As the home of the second iteration of The Flash – Barry Allen – civilians can sleep soundly at night knowing they are under the vigilant watch of the Scarlet Speedster. Even if there are any large-scale problems, due to Flash’s speedy nature, they are solved fairly quickly. The people are so safe that they even built a massive museum for their resident hero. The Flash museum is not only a monument to the peace of Central City, but it is home to all of Flash’s previous villain’s technology.

Mirror Master’s Mirror Gun, Captain Cold’s Cold Gun, Heat Wave’s Heat Gun (A lot of them used guns.), and Weather Wizard’s Wand. All of these are on display in the museum. And they are clearly still working since villains may sometimes break into the museum to steal them. Yet the people still feel that they are not in any major danger.
