It's hard to believe that someone dressed up as a bat could be considered one of the scariest figures in DC. And yet, Batman manages to strike fear into the hearts of countless people. He may not have any actual superpowers but he can still intimidate those who do have powers.

As hard as it is to believe, some people are immune to Batman's tactics. These people can look Batman right in the eye without faltering. Out of everyone in the DC Universe, these are the ten people that Batman can't scare.

10 Amanda Waller

DC - Amanda Waller talking to Batman

The only way the Suicide Squad could even hope to run efficiently is with a leader like Amanda Waller capable of organizing dysfunctional criminals and keeping their missions under wraps. Her squad's questionable activities have attracted the attention of Batman several times and the two have butted heads.

Unlike Batman's other enemies, Waller has the U.S. Government on her side so he can't arrest her. Even without that, she's worked with enough costumed criminals to not be fazed by the Dark Knight. In some cases, she knows his identity and uses it as leverage to keep him out of her way.

9 Alfred Pennyworth

Alfred Pennyworth has gone above and beyond the call of duty for a butler. A close friend of the Wayne family, he raised Bruce after the death of his parents and when he returned to Gotham he begrudgingly assisted him in his crime-fighting efforts.

Most employees would fear the sanity of their boss if they dressed up as a bat to fight crime as a vigilante. Alfred is not one of them. Batman isn't just a crime-fighting legend or his boss. Bruce is like a son to Alfred and like any loving parent, he trusts him with his life.

8 Leslie Thompkins

Speaking of parental figures, Alfred wasn't the only one to console a young Bruce Wayne. She's often overlooked or forgotten but Dr. Leslie Thompkins was a close friend of the Waynes and helped raise Bruce after his parents' death.

While Dr. Thompkins doesn't approve of Bruce's vigilante lifestyle, she's been known to tend to Batman's more serious wounds at her clinic. Like Alfred, she can look past the mask thanks to their shared history and does her best to rein him in when he's at risk. Well, at more risk than usual.

7 Swamp Thing

Perhaps before his fatal accident, Alec Holland would have been just as scared of Batman as anyone else. As Swamp Thing, fear is no longer an issue for him. While the guardian of the Green has retained some traces of humanity and individuality, he has gained control over nature itself but lost touch with his emotions.

Swamp Thing has become fixated on protecting the Green and humanity and seems to view humans as either pests or means to an end. At least, that's how it appears whenever he interacts with Batman and Justice League Dark.

6 Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman's feelings towards her fellow Justice League member have changed throughout the years. She's been a loyal teammate, a close friend, a rival, and occasionally a romantic partner. Yet she has never found herself ever fearing Batman. It's not because she is an all-power Amazon with the blood of the gods running through her veins, although that certainly helps.

Wonder Woman certainly admires his warrior spirit but has worked alongside him long enough to extinguish any mystery behind him. At least, she thinks there's nothing left that he could hide from him.

5 The Spectre

Batman and the Spectre team up

Despite lacking any powers, Batman has managed to intimidate supernatural beings before. The Spectre is not one of those beings. Serving as a force of vengeance, he seeks to punish the wicked through methods that Batman finds reprehensible.

Whenever he and Batman encounter one another, they tend to argue over the semantics of dispensing justice with Batman taking a more merciful approach. Ultimately, the two beings are locked in a stalemate unable to convince the other or frighten them.

4 Constantine

John Constantine rarely ever gives a damn about anything. He's tangled with various demons and magical entities that would frighten most of the Justice League. If Constantine can haggle with Trigon without batting an eye, he has nothing to fear from the likes of Batman.

More often than not, Constantine tends to talk down Batman whenever the two interact. It's not just because he possesses great magical power but it's also because Constantine is a manipulator and knows how to toy with Batman. Maybe if Batman was willing to kill, then Constantine would be more cautious but that isn't the case.

3 Hush

Batman Hush

Something that most of the people on this list have in common is that they've known Bruce since he was a child. That would explain why Thomas Elliot doesn't fear Batman. He knows who is behind the mask and Hush resents him for gaining the wealth and independence he craved as a child.

As a skilled tactician, Thomas learned from a young age to think like his opponents and use them to his advantage. That's why in Hush's first outing he isn't frightened in the slightest and knows just how to hurt Batman by turning his friends and foes against him.

2 Darkseid

It almost seems unfair to have Darkseid on this list considering the stark contrast between him and Batman. After all, Darkseid is a New God that requires the full attention of the Justice League to stop him.

Darkseid can be incredibly narcissistic, but even he understands that Batman is a cunning, formidable opponent willing to do what Superman and Wonder Woman cannot to protect the planet. While Darkseid may never fear Batman, he does respect the Dark Knight as a worthy adversary. Not a half-decent consolation prize.

1 The Kents

In terms of abilities, Jonathan 'Pa' Kent and Martha 'Ma' Kent aren't remarkable people. They're simple farm folk trying their best to make an honest living for their family. They also found and raised a Kryptonian baby without letting anyone find out.

Compared to bringing up an alien child with the powers of a god, a billionaire in a bat suit doesn't faze them regardless of Batman's skills and influence. Part of what makes the Kents such incredible characters is that they treat everyone that they meet like regular people regardless if they have powers or not. It's no wonder that Superman grew up to be such a humble character.
