Recently, Batman and Catwoman have taken their relationship one step further, with the couple choosing to be devoted to one another. Though the two aren’t technically married, their relationship is still incredibly strong, and it is especially nice to see them happy together.

However, the road to happiness for them has been an incredibly long and difficult one, with the characters constantly being on-and-off with each other. Despite whatever troubles they have managed to overcome though, there have still been plenty of romantic moments shared between the two throughout several years. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, here is our list of the ten most romantic moments between the Bat and the Cat.

10 The Game (Catwoman New 52)

Catwoman New 52

At the start of the New 52 relaunch, Catwoman found herself with a solo series once again. As one of the major players in Gotham City at this point, it makes sense that Batman would show up on occasion.

However, Batman actually shows up very early in the series, and the two have a rather steamy encounter together. Despite the sexy nature of the scene though, it is still a very well-written romantic encounter between them. Furthermore, Selina’s inner monologue is a great portrayal of her complex relationship with Batman. While there are much more romantic encounters between the couple, this is still a great, modern example of their relationship.

9 House of Hush

Streets of Gotham is an incredibly underrecognized series featuring some smaller citizens and inhabitants of the city. While Batman still has a very strong presence in the book, the series doesn’t hesitate to give the spotlight to some lesser-known characters.

With that in mind, the series also ran during the time when Bruce Wayne was presumed dead after the events of Final Crisis, when Dick Grayson was wearing the cape and cowl. When Bruce made his return, however, it actually took Selina a second to recognize him. When she finally did though, the two embraced and shared an incredibly romantic kiss, proving once again that while their relationship is flawed, the two work very well together.

8 Some Of These Days

Author Tom King is known for establishing one of the strongest Batman/Catwoman relationships yet. In one of his stronger examples from his run, King retells the story of the couple’s first kiss, then gives readers a glimpse of their last.

Told in two parts, “Some of These Days” is easily one of the strongest moments between the couple, yet also one of the saddest. While the entire issue is incredibly romantic throughout, everything culminates perfectly into a very nice, tear-jerking ending, proving that the love the two share is eternal.

7 A Night on the Town

Batman and Catwoman Town on the night

While Batman #392 may be one of the older issues on this list, it is a great example of just how well the couple works together, especially in costume. After trying to leave her life of crime behind her, Catwoman teams up with Batman for an issue to help him fight some average criminals for a night.

As the two are out on patrol, sparks definitely begin to fly, with the two even coming close to sharing a kiss at one point. Though nothing too scandalous happened during this issue, it is still an incredibly strong and romantic moment shared between the couple.

6 Hush

Batman: Hush actually did wonders for Batman and Catwoman’s relationship. During this story, Bruce finally decides to reveal his identity to Selina, marking a huge step forward in their relationship.

Throughout the rest of the story, the two are actually a couple, with Bruce introducing Selina to several other aspects of his life. Unfortunately, at the end of the run, the two split up once again, but it doesn’t change the fact that the entire series is full of some pretty romantic moments. Though things may have ended there for the time being, Hush actually helped pave the way for where the couple is today.

5 The Wedding

Though the wedding that was scheduled for Batman #50 didn’t actually take place, it is still one of the most romantic single issues for the couple to date. With so many artists aboard to celebrate the occasion, the entire issue feels like a great celebration of Batman and Catwoman as a couple.

Even though the two didn’t actually tie the knot by the end of the issue, there are still plenty of great romantic moments between them throughout. From some of their earlier encounters to some very recent ones the wedding special really only falls short by making fans wait several more issues to see the couple actually end up together.

4 The Autobiography of Bruce Wayne

In an alternate universe, many years ago, Bruce Wayne actually found himself married to Selina Kyle far sooner than the main version of Batman would be. Taking place within The Brave and the Bold, “The Autobiography of Bruce Wayne” really popularized the romantic relationship between Batman and the occasional villain.

Not only did the issue technically foreshadow events of what was to come, but it also set up several other aspects for the main DC universe, especially in regards to the Helena Wayne version of Huntress. Though it was not canon, this timeline was seen several times in later years. Despite being a lesser-known issue featuring the couple, it is still one of the best, especially considering all the ideas it helped set up.

3 Rooftops

One of the strongest points during Tom King’s Batman run comes from his two-part “Rooftops” storyline. The first issue is a great, simple romantic night between the couple, helping to set the stage for their relationship in the later issues.

Furthermore, the dialogue between the two is incredibly strong, with the two saying so much in so little sometimes. For how short the arc is overall, it is truly astounding that “Rooftops” can be such a great moment in the characters’ relationship. With all the strong points in King’s run overall, this is easily one of the strongest.

2 Heart of Hush

When Hush made a terrifying return to Gotham City, he set out to attack Batman in a more unique way, by literally cutting out Catwoman’s heart and placing it on a timer for Batman to find. Of course, being the world’s greatest detective, Batman is able to find Selina’s heart in time to save her.

What is truly great about the arc though, is just how mad Bruce actually got when Hush attacked Selina. In his efforts to save her, Batman did some pretty brutal things while trying to solve the mystery. By the end of the story, the two share an absolutely incredible moment in the hospital together, making it easy to see why they are meant for each other. For all of Bruce Wayne’s other love interests over the years, “Heart of Hush” makes it easy to see why Selina will always be the one.

1 The Proposal

Batman proposes to Catwoman

Of all other moments in their history together, no other moment is arguably more romantic than Batman’s actual proposal to Selina. With everything King had been building to, the proposal just felt like a nearly perfect issue.

Once again, several clever arguments are made throughout that show just why the two are meant to be together. Likewise, considering where they are now, it is hard to argue any other more romantic moment in the couple’s history. Though it may have taken Selina a while to say “yes,” Batman’s proposal is undoubtedly one of the most romantic moments between the two yet.
