There have been numerous people to take up the mantle of Batgirl over the years, but the most famous is fan-favorite character Barbara Gordon. As the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, she grew up with police training. However, it was her the mentorship of Batman that helped her become one of the most accomplished and skilled vigilantes in Gotham.

Given Batgirl's popularity as an iconic DC heroine, fans naturally wonder how she would fare if taken out of her universe and put into the main Marvel Universe. With her martial arts training and detective skills, she would adapt quickly, but some challenge are even beyond her abilities.

10 Defeat: Black Cat

The Black Cat is Marvel's equivalent of Catwoman. This might seem like a bit of an oversimplified comparison to fans, but, like Catwoman, Black Cat is a world-class cat burglar and skilled fighter with a flirtatious streak who sometimes teams up with the heroes and other times is involved with organized crime. The major difference is that Black Cat has the power to give people bad luck.

Batgirl has fought with Catwoman. She can fight Black Cat just as easily. Furthermore, Batgirl is no stranger to overcoming the adversity that comes from a string of bad luck. The DC heroine would lock the Cat up in a cage and throw away the key.

9 Lose To: Carnage

Carnage is a symbiote and the evil child of Venom who bonded with the serial killer Cletus Kasady. He is clearly the most sadistic of the main symbiotes on earth as well as the most powerful, as was demonstrated in the Absolute Carnage storyline. Symbiotes can change their shape, heal wounds, and take over host bodies.

In the DC Universe, there is nothing quite like the symbiotes so there is no frame of reference for Batgirl to draw on. With enough time, she could figure out how to defeat most symbiotes, but Carnage would never give her that kind of advantage.

8 Defeat: Scorpion

Like the last two, Scorpion is a character mostly known as a Spider-Man villain. His real name is Mac Gargan and he is a crook who was trapped in the armored suit which gives him his powers. These include increased physical strength, speed, and stamina, while the suit allows him to cling to walls and to shoot various projectiles (but most commonly acid) out of the end of the prehensile tail.

While Scorpion is physically stronger than Batgirl, her acrobatics training would allow her to dodge his attacks and her amazing knowledge of technology would give her the ability to quickly find weak points in his suit. Using either hacking or electomagntic batarangs, she'd be able to disable his suit.

7 Lose To: Abomination

The Abomination is arguably Hulk's greatest enemy. This gamma-powered monster has the strength of the Hulk, rage to match, and the instincts of a natural born killer. Additionally, the newest version of Abomination from the Immortal Hulk comic is able to spew stomach acid so powerful it can dissolve even the Hulk's body.

Plainly put, this would not be a fair fight. Batgirl could no more defeat him than she could beat Doomsday from her own universe. The results of her trying to take on the giant green hate monster would be truly abominable.

6 Defeat: Sin

Sin is the daughter of Red Skull. She was raised on an ideology of hate and considers genocide to be a family value. Worse still, she had been trained from early childhood to be capable of implementing her plans, making her a master of close quarters combat and marksmanship. She also has an incredible mind for strategy.

Batgirl and Sin are an even match for one another. In many ways, Sin seems like the more likely to win, as she is willing to use guns. Batgirl's martial arts training and various gadgets are enough that she could defeat Sin, but it would be a close fight.

5 Lose To: Selene

Selene is an X-Men villain who first appeared in issue 9 of Chris Claremont's New Mutants. This immortal mutant was around during the time of Conan the Barbarian at the height of the Hyperborean Age. Beyond her immortality, some of her notable powers include telepathy, telekinesis, magic, fire manipulation, and life-draining psychic vampirism. She also developed an unhealthy obsession with the Roman Empire and has tried to use her powers to recreate it.

While Batgirl could survive an encounter with Selene, getting out of a fight with both her life and her mind intact would take everything she has.

4 Defeat: Bullseye

Bullseye is an assassin who can turn anything into a weapon. In his hands, knives, pencils, and even playing cards are dangerous hand-thrown projectiles. He is also a master marksman and hand-to-hand combatant. Furthermore, he has made it his personal goal to cause Daredevil as much vexation as possible, even killing two of the women Daredevil loves.

Bullseye has killed people who are deadlier martial artists than Batgirl is. There is a very real chance he could kill her. However, she's also survived the worst the Joker, the Court of Owls, and the god Kalibak could dish out--all of whom are deadlier than Bullseye. Her ability to think on her feet and use gymnastics to dodge attacks gives her an edge on survival. After that, it is a matter of finding the right time to strike, something a genius like her could pull off.

3 Lose To: Enchantress

Amora the Enchantress is an immortal who uses magic to manipulate people and to get her way, often casting powerful illusions to fool people, including even those who suspect her of acting dishonestly. She is also possessed of godlike strength, speed, and physical endurance.

While Batgirl is the more skilled combatant of the two, punching out a god is no easy matter for most mere mortals. Batarangs would bounce off Enchantress's skin and her Asgardian body would barely notice any damage Barbara Gordon tried to inflict. A fight would be over faster than it takes to say, "Abrakadabra."

2 Defeat: Recluse

Recluse is a Russian assassin and spymaster who was trained alongside Black Widow in the Red Room. Her mother was the Headmistress who ran the original Red Room that taught little girls to become deadly spies. Recluse was spoiled by her mother and spared the worst of the hardships of training, but eventually became the head of her own program, training children in the newly formed Black Room.

The Russian agent is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, a deadly sniper, and trained in spycraft. None of that is going to impress Batgirl. What does Barbara Gordon care if someone was trained in the Red Room? She was trained by Batman! There is nothing Recluse can do that Batgirl can't do better.

1 Lose To: Doctor Doom

The leader of Latvia is considered by many to be one of the greatest villains in the Marvel Universe. Doctor Victor von Doom is both a genius of technological inventions and a master of the mystic arts. On one occasion, he saved the multiverse and remade it in his image. This is because Doom's greatest power is his ego, which allows him to do just about anything he sets his mind to.

Doom has opposed Galactus and the Beyonder. He has defied the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, besting both groups. If he decided Batgirl was worth his notice, he'd dispatch her however he saw fit.
