The Arrowverse is no stranger to making changes to the source material. While some aspects of the characters and their stories are very similar to the comics, others have been drastically changed. Most of the time this is to suit the format of the storytelling.

However, sometimes these changes actually improve upon what we've seen in the comics. Different backstories, new characters and even locations can all improve the overall universe. Here's 10 changes the Arrowverse made that might work for the comics too!

10 LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

The Legends are a really unique team that have been created for the TV shows. Since the Arrowverse had so many side characters, the best solution was to create this team of misfits, rogues, criminals and other assorted heroes.

The results is a really fun collection of individuals going on magical and time travelling missions in the Waverider. This could absolutely translate to the comics and it's a surprise that such an idea hasn't been pushed much further!

9 WHITE CANARY

The Black Canary has been changed a lot in the Arrowverse and we're not on board with most of these differences. However, one additional element that is really different from the comics, is the creation of the White Canary.

The sister of the Black Canary and the original wielder of the black suit, White Canary has consistently been one of the best characters in the Arrowverse. Her totally unique creation should be used in the comics, ret-conning the character into the universe.

8 THEA QUEEN

Thea Queen is also a creation of the TV shows and one that actually gives the Speedy character a lot more emotional depth. Rather than being a random sidekick to Green Arrow, the addition of Thea actually adds the stakes.

Not only does it create this crime fighting family, but it gives Oliver a reason to keep fighting, especially to protect Thea. The addition of Emiko then makes this relationship even more complex and these are some dramatic beats that the comics could hit on.

7 OVERWATCH

The DC Universe never has enough people in chairs. The person behind the chair concept is really useful for storytelling. Oracle is the best example of this kind of DC character, but the creation of Overwatch perfectly matches what is needed.

Although the Olicity stuff may not translate well to the comics due to the relationship between Black Canary and Green Arrow, the overall idea of Overwatch is one that should be continued as part of team Arrow's setup.

6 MULTIVERSE

The multiverse is a concept that is of course in the comics and has been in the Arrowverse for some time. However, the way that the multiverse was brought together in the comics was different to that of the TV show.

In the comics, characters like Black Lightning and Supergirl all lived on the same Earth. Perhaps the comic crossovers would be more impactful if for a time the characters were separated out across the multiverse.

5 CAPTAIN COLD

Captain Cold has been turned good in the comics, however that's through a multiverse version of the character. Both Heatwave and Captain Cold have been turned to the light in the TV show and it actually works really well!

The idea that these two criminals can actually redeem themselves is an unlikely story that manages to get by with the great performances from the cast. With some stellar writing, we think even the comic versions of the characters can be brought to the side of good.

4 LENA LUTHOR

Lena Luthor is very much present in the comics, but the way she's used in the show is totally different from anything you might expect. She's not the forgotten sister of Lex, but a strong businesswoman who stands up to her brother.

Not only this, she is uniquely placed as a friend to Supergirl, as she can be a critical part of the action and serve as a very personal connection to the Luthor family and Lex himself. The character should really pull from the TV show in the comics.

3 THE GUARDIAN

The version of the Guardian that we get in the Arrowverse is kind of odd. While it's great that Jimmy Olsen is being used in a more action-packed way, we're not sure he's a good fit for the suit; this definitely wouldn't work in the comics.

The idea that the Guardian costume and concept behind the character, could be brought to the comics is an interesting one. As an outside choice, we could actually see a version of Spartan or John Diggle, donning this armor instead of the strange Magneto helmet he normally sports!

2 VIBE

The character of Cisco is such a focus point in the TV shows that it's difficult to imagine him being any different. The comics version of the character is hardly recognizable though and we wonder if some of the TV version's traits would work well on the page.

Asides from the power sets being similar, the personality and even his role on team Flash are very different. We believe that the TV version of the character may have a few aspects that could work well in the comics, in order to bring the character back to prominence.

1 RELATIONSHIPS

The relationships of the TV shows are totally different from that of the comics, but there may be a few that could carry over. Whereas some of the greatest friendships in the comics include the likes of Superman and Batman, the show has created its own dynamics.

The mentoring between Oliver Queen and Barry Allen is absolutely fantastic and Flash and Supergirl as super friends is a great choice. There's plenty of relationships that we'd love to see used more in the source material this all originated from.
