The King of the Sea, Arthur Curry aka Aquaman first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 (1941) by Mort Weisinger and Paul Norris. He's been the butt of numerous jokes thanks in part to his fish-talking powers, but he's seen a "cool" resurgence, first with the revamped New 52 series and most recently with Justice League (2017) followed by the Aquaman (2018) movie starring Jason Mamoa as the character.

Between the comic books, movie, and that infamous video game no one should talk about, people have created a lot of fan art showing how awesome Aquaman can be as the King of Atlantis. So let's check out 10 Aquaman Fan Art Pictures That Prove He's The Real King Of Atlantis below!

10 Aquaman By Zarory

This piece is beautifully painted by Deviant Art user Zarory. The colors are just so vibrant and the minimalist background details featuring fish and a small wave draw your focus to the detailed King of Atlantic. He even has the same eyebrow scar as actor Jason Mamoa.

9 Aquaman By DazTibbles

This Aquaman piece, created by DazTibbles, is this artist's take on Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, imagined as a comic book cover. The King of Atlantis has a tough, almost God of War-esque look to him.

The level of detail in his armor alone is astonishing. Plus the copious amounts of bubbles rising up, leading the eye to the intimidating sharks. A nice addition that this clearly battle-hardened Aquaman is most certainly read for.

8 Aquaman 1941 By axlsalles

This more traditional take on the comic book version of Aquaman is a commission by axlsalles. The blurring effect within the wave is gorgeous and really adds to Aquaman's majestic authority over the sea. The water splashing onto him without a single break in his poise adds to this sense of power.

7 Beyond the Sea By PTimm

This piece, titled "Beyond the Sea," was created by PTimm, who was inspired by Aquaman's appearance in Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013). Aquaman is one of many fun elements in this piece. There are so many cool references on this art piece that it becomes a Where's Waldo experience.

The most obvious reference is our Little Mermaid (1989) Ariel, then there's the group of fish that appears to include Flounder, Dory, and Marlon. A wonderful touch is the background; an underwater city that appears to belong to the game Bioshock (2007) if the plasmids sign on the building tells us anything.

It also appears to be combining elements from both the Jason Mamoa version of Aquaman and his more traditional comic book counterpart.

What's better than seeing Aquaman ride a seahorse? This pretty commission by DanielGovar was created using a Kuretake no 40 with watercolor and white signo pen on hot press Arches.

The watercolor look makes this piece stand out. Plus getting to see Aquaman at one with a member of his ocean, as well as nearby a part of his underwater utopia, makes this look like a trading card I'd love to collect!
