DC has officially announced an all-new Digital First series, Injustice: Year Zero, by Tom Taylor, Rogê Antônio, Cian Tormey, Rain Beredo and Wes Abbott.

Serving as a prequel to Injustice: Gods Among UsYear Zero "focuses the action around the Justice League and the discovery of how their predecessors covertly fought within WWII to bring down a tyrant. When the Joker finds a way to control DC’s Super Heroes, he uses his leverage to sabotage the Justice League—and the JSA—from the inside!"

"Year Zero isn't as morally grey as what comes after," Taylor told THR. "This is Superman and Batman at the peak of their friendship. Lois and Clark as a team. The Justice League united, and the Justice Society as a shining example for all. Of course, by its very nature, there's going to be tragedy and shocks and deaths, but there will be hope, there will be triumph, there will be love with the loss and heart alongside the hurt."

Based on the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game, Injustice is set in an alternate universe where Batman's group of underground warriors have defeated Superman's totalitarian regime. The comic book picked up where the first game left off, featuring a defeated Superman in captivity before Ra's al Ghul assembles a group of rogues to strongarm the world into reversing the effects of climate change, killing the President of the United States and several other political figures.

A preview of Injustice: Year Zero Chapter 1 is available on DCComics.com.
