Harley Quinn is the latest DC character to get her own animated series on DC Universe, although we have seen quite a few animated versions of our favorite heroes and villains from DC Comics over the years.

And since Harley Quinn is opening doors for a new type of DC adult animated series, we wanted to take a look at a few DC properties that we would love to see get their own animated series, though we won't be limiting our selections to only those suitable for adult programming.

10 DIAL H FOR HERO

There have been many comic iterations of Dial H For Hero over the years since the first stories appeared in 1966's House of Mystery. The premise of the series follows a powerful device known as the H-Dial that can transform its user into a random superhero form.

While the creation of new superheroes with every use of the H-Dial might create a licensing nightmare, the premise of the series could be altered so that normal everyday kids like the stars of Dial H For Hero comics can use the H-Dial to transform into random DC characters instead.

9 MISTER MIRACLE

DC's Fourth World of characters was created by comic legend Jack "The King" Kirby and starred the New Gods, who have made a few appearances across the various animated series. However, we would love to see an animated series specifically focused on the Fourth World characters, preferably with a Kirby-influenced animation style.

The best character to lead a Fourth World series is definitely Mister Miracle, who has worked alongside the greats of the DC universe as the world's greatest escape artist and as one of the League's resident New Gods. Scott Free's origins as a child of both Genesis and Apokolips would help explain the history of the New Gods while fans got to explore the Fourth World in a beautiful new way.

8 SUICIDE SQUAD

Rick Flag leads Task Force X into battle in Suicide Squad: The Janus Directive (1987)

Another team that has appeared a few times in various animated series or even DC's direct-to-video feature-length animated films is the Suicide Squad, or Task Force X as they are known in more kid-friendly circles.

Given the success of Harley Quinn's first season, we'd love to see a mature animated take on the Suicide Squad that wasn't afraid to show murderous villains being murderous villains. And while the new versions of the team appear to be the most popular, we're still partial to the earliest formations of Task Force X from creator John Ostrander and artist Luke McDonnell.

7 SHAZAM!

We've seen quite a few different adaptations of Shazam over the years, from the first live-action film serial in 1941 to his most recent big-budget film in 2019. The character also has an extensive history in animation dating back to The Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam! which debuted in 1981.

We'd love to see a series that focused on the Shazam Family as it exists in the comics today with the power spread among the various members of Billy Batson's adopted family. The Fawcett City characters don't seem to get as much screen time as other DC properties, and we'd love to see the World's Mightiest Mortal get some quality family time.

6 JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK

The Justice League has been featured heavily in animation since the very beginning as the Super Friends in 1973 and most recently with 2016's Justice League Action. However, there's a darker version of the team we've seen a bit of in separate appearances or in the direct-to-video animated films that we'd love to see explored more in animation.

Justice League Dark is a supernatural offshoot of the League with members like Zatanna, John Constantine, Deadman, and Swamp Thing who handle the more magical threats to the DC universe that would work well in an adult horror animation, especially if the leader from the current iteration of the comic team was used, but more on her soon.

5 BOOSTER GOLD

Booster Gold with his robotic partner Skeets

"The Greatest Hero You've Never Heard Of!" may be an odd tagline for a superhero, but Booster Gold is not your everyday superhero. Michael Jon Carter was a security guard at a superhero museum in the 25th century who decided to steal various items like a Legion flight ring, force field belt, and a power suit, along with his trusty robot sidekick Skeets.

Michael then traveled back in time to become the superhero known as Booster Gold, though he was more focused on fame and glory initially, though he eventually stumbled his way into heroism. Any series based on Booster Gold would need to be heavy on the comedy, especially if his best bud Blue Beetle was along for the ride.

4 OUTSIDERS

The Outsiders were originally formed by Batman in order to work outside the confines of the Justice League, but over the years they have been reformed by other heroes like Nightwing and Black Lighting. As we have other ideas for Batman and his family (keep reading), an animated team of Outsiders would do best with Black Lightning at the helm.

Black Lightning was a member of Batman's original team, he worked with Nightwing's version of the team, and he's the current leader of the Outsiders in the DC Rebirth era, which includes members like Cassandra Cain/Orphan, Duke Thomas/The Signal, and classic Outsiders member Katana, which would provide an interesting lineup for the animated series to explore.

3 LOBO

Lobo's only had a handful of animated appearances on series like Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League, but they are fondly remembered by fans who want to see more of the Czarnian Main Man.

If any potential series on this list could benefit from Harley Quinn's R-rated influence on DC animation it is the often violent Lobo, though the character has always had a unique way with words that allowed him to get past most of the fraggin' comic censor bastiches.

2 GOTHAM KNIGHTS

Batman has a long and amazing animated history, and we've seen quite a few animated series based on the Dark Knight like Batman: The Animated SeriesBatman: The Brave And The Bold, or the most recent but short-lived Beware The Batman, and still, we'd take another Batman series happily.

However, what we'd love to see is a look at Batman and the family he's assembled around him over the years, which includes characters like Catwoman, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, Drake, Robin, Huntress, Spoiler and still more that could add a whole new layer to the animated mythology of the Batman.

1 WONDER WOMAN

Wonder Woman is the animated series we've been waiting to see for years and one we can't believe we haven't already seen, though the character was one of the main stars of the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated series.

She has also starred in the DC Super Hero Girls animated series, though we're dying to see a more adult fantasy series that explores her mythological origins and history with the DC Universe much like her Rebirth comic series, and could even lead to a spinoff as she is the current leader of Justice League Dark as well.
