Dawn Of X has made a huge splash for Marvel. Redefining the X-Men, this new status quo has seen the mutants finally get some power in the world, using the island of Krakoa and medicines made from the mutant island's flowers to finally make a home for the mutant race away from the racism of humanity.

Professor X and Magneto decided to open up the island to all mutants and this is where things have a chance to go very wrong. All includes evil mutants, some of whom have grudges against the X-Men and their allies or who might break the laws of the island for a variety of reasons. Which of these mutants is most likely to mess everything up? Let's take a look.

10 Krakoa

Krakoa and Wolverine

Krakoa is a living mutant island and has its own wants and needs, something that can be easily forgotten by the mutants who now call the island home. In the past, Krakoa has been antagonistic with the X-Men, but that's not why there's a chance the island itself could shatter the nation it's the home of.

In X Of Swords, the latest X-Men crossover, it's revealed that Krakoa desires to be reunited with a fragment of itself that was thrust into the Otherworld, Arakko. It even got angry when the mutants said they were going to close off the gate to Arakko. If it can get angry at them for something like that, what else will it get angry about and what will be the consequences for that anger? The X-Men's biggest enemy could be their home.

9 Emplate

Emplate from the X-Men comics

Emplate is a long time enemy of Generation X, the older brother to M. His mutant powers depend entirely on him draining energy from other mutants and while the X-Men are equipped to supply him with mutant husks created by the Five to dine on, that doesn't mean that he's satisfied with that sort of thing.

Emplate's betrayal wouldn't be the kind that would end the island but one that is much more mundane- by simply harming his fellow mutants. While the Krakoans have mastered resurrection, Emplate killing any mutants would still be a terrible thing and mobilize the nation against him.

8 Omega Red

Omega Red has already begun the process of betraying Krakoa... or at least one particular person on the island. Working with Dracula, Omega Red promised to deliver Wolverine to the vampire lord because of his healing factor- drinking the Canadian mutant's blood allows vampires to walk in the daylight.

However, is that the only deal Omega Red made with the vampires? In fact, is that the only deal Omega Red made? If he was willing to betray his mutant brethren to one enemy, is there another that he's also sold them out to? Red has proven he has no problem betraying his fellows.

7 Gorgon

Gorgon

Gorgon joined the Krakoan nation and was made one of the Captains of the island- one of four mutants in charge of the defense of the island. This was kind of an unprecedented move- Gorgon is undeniably powerful and skilled but giving a mutant like him that kind of responsibility and trust may be a foolish move.

Before coming to Krakoa, he was helping Hydra in their conquest of America. He was also the founder of a ninja death cult that was able to take over Hand and targeted Wolverine. While everyone on Krakoa gets a second chance, giving Gorgon this kind of power on the island is a bad move because he's proven over the years just how bad he can be.

6 Sabretooth

Sabretooth X-Men barring teeth

Sabretooth was the first recipient of Krakoan justice. He broke one of the three laws of the island, killing humans on a mission he was sent on by the island's leadership. For his crimes, he was banished to a purgatorial existence under the island. However, Sabretooth is one of those bad pennies that always turns back up.

Eventually, Sabretooth's unique skills will be needed, they'll bring him back up, and that will be a mistake. He'll play along, following orders, regaining everyone's trust (expect Wolverine's, who is incapable of trusting Sabretooth). Then, he'll lash out and do the terrible things that he's always been known for. It's just what he does.

5 Sebastian Shaw

Sebastian Shaw in Hellfire Club

Sebastian Shaw is already being pretty shady but knowing him, it's probably only going to get worst. Shaw has always been known as a manipulative player but he's been taking it to a whole new dimension in his attempts to take over the Hellfire Trading Company and control the Krakoan drug trade for himself and make all the profit.

He's already killed Kitty Pryde in this mission and knowing him that's only the beginning. The worst part is that he's a member of the Quiet Council, the group of mutants who run the island, meaning the potential damage he can do could be catastrophic.

4 Apocalypse

apocalypse saying welcome home

On the surface, Apocalypse has wholeheartedly embraced the Krakoan ideal. To him, a nation full of mutants with as much power as the Krakoans have gained is the ultimate in the survival of the fittest. He's been acting as a great boon to the island, with many forgiving him the terrible things he's done over the years.

Many are looking at Apocalypse in a new light and that can rather bad, especially if he's playing everyone so he can raise an army to attack the rest of the world among the mutants who are starting to look up to him.

3 Mister Sinister

Mister Sinister

Mister Sinister has long worked in the shadows, trying to craft the mutant race into something he could control. He's become a crucial part of Krakoa, with his mutant DNA database forming the basis for the resurrection protocols of the island. However, his time on the island has been pretty suspect.

First off, he's been acting a bit madcap, which is out of character for him. He's also been trying to get Psylocke on his side for reasons all his own and used the Hellions to clean up some of his dirty laundry involving yet another clone of Madelyne Pryor and his Maruaders. Mister Sinister has always played his games and is his allegiance to Krakoa yet another one? It remains to be seen.

2 Mystique

Mystique from XMen

Mystique asked for something very specific for her allegiance to Krakoa and the X-Men- the resurrection of her wife, Destiny. However, Moira MacTaggert, afraid Destiny will discover what she's learned in all of her lifetimes, has had Xavier and Magneto stop any resurrection of any precogs. Mystique has already been denied her reward once and the longer she's without Destiny, the worse things are going to become.

Mystique is uniquely suited to wreaking havoc, both because of her shapeshifting talents and her long experience in espionage and sabotage. Mystique is a ticking timebomb and it's only a matter of time before she goes off.

1 Moira MacTaggert

Moira MacTaggert from House of X and Powers of X

Moira MacTaggert was always thought to be a human evolutionary biologist but it was revealed she was a mutant all along, with a unique and unprecedented power- every time she dies, her life starts over again and she remembers everything about her past lives, allowing her to change things. This is her tenth life and she's been through a lot, with her last few lives seeing her taking a more villainous path as she's realized something- mutants always lose.

This simple revelation, that her race is always destined to be destroyed, could have easily driven her crazy over the years. It was her idea for Xavier to take all the steps that led to Krakoa and maybe her motives weren't so altruistic in this- maybe she just wants to prevent the death of her people in the only way she knows how- by destroying all of mutantkind's enemies.
