Keri Russell isn't monkeying around anymore. After a few rough patches following her breakout role in the WB series Felicity, the actress seems to be hitting her stride again. She's not only starring in FX's recently renewed Cold War thriller The Americans, but she also has a pair of movies on the horizon (Dark Skies and Austenland).
Variety reports Russell will now also star in Fox's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. While we still don't know too much about the movie, it's set 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes in a San Francisco with an intelligent-ape infestation. Some humans remain as a kind of resistance to their animal oppressors, and revolution leader Caesar (played by way of motion capture by Andy Serkis) is starting to lose some of his control among the apes.
In a fun note for Felicity fans, this film will mark a reunion between star Russell and the show's co-creator Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), who took over directing duties from Rupert Wyatt. Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Serkis are all set to star in the film, which is set to open May 23, 2014.
