David Slade to Helm Hannibal Pilot

David Slade, who was hired last year to direct Daredevil, will helm the pilot for Hannibal, the NBC thriller featuring characters from Thomas Harris’ 1981 novel Red Dragon, Deadline reports.

The series, from Gaumont International Television and Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, fleshes out the book’s backstory, with brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter facing off against FBI profiler Will Graham (played by The Big C's Hugh Dancy).

Slade, who's best known for the film adaptations of 30 Days of Night and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, most recently directed the Awake pilot for NBC.
