David Ramsey, best known for his portrayal of John Diggle/Spartan in Arrow, believes that The CW's Arrowverse evolved with the introduction of Superman & Lois.

"I like to think that we hold the name Arrowverse, because Arrow started it all," Ramsey told CBR in a new interview. "That makes me feel great, right, to still be a part of that."

The actor added that it's been fun to watch the universe evolve with the addition of new shows and characters, noting, "With Superman & Lois, it was kind of a natural evolution to where the Arrowverse has gone, just the way it's shot, the storytelling."

"It was evident there!" he continued. "We were shooting with anamorphic lenses and shooting for 7-8k video. Beyond the technical aspect of it, it's just this slower pace, really involved drama that has superheroes in it."

Ramsey even went as far as saying that Superman & Lois is the future of the Arrowverse, explaining, "...I think that's kind of the next evolution of the Arrowverse, and it's just exciting to be a part of that."

In addition to directing Season 1, Episode 7 ("Man of Steel") of Superman & Lois, Ramsey reprised his role as John Diggle in Season 1, Episode 12 ("Through the Valley of Death"), which is scheduled to air on July 13. It was also previously reported that Ramsey would direct episodes of several Arrowverse shows, as well as reprise the role of Diggle on Supergirl, The Flash and Batwoman.

Meanwhile, the Ramsey-directed episode of Legends of Tomorrow -- titled "Stressed Western" -- is scheduled to air on June 27. That episode will also see Ramsey step into the role of Sheriff Bass Reeves, the U.S.' first Black deputy marshal and a distant relative of Diggle.

The latest episode of Superman & Lois ("A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events"), consisted of a series of flashbacks centered on Clark Kent's formative years in Smallville. Among other key events, the episode spotlighted the moment that young Clark received a signal from his Kryptonian crystal and inadvertently created his Fortress of Solitude. The episode also revealed the moment that Clark first learned his true identity and began his training with his Kryptonian father Jor-El, as well as reflected on the beginnings of his relationship with Lois Lane at The Daily Planet.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
