David Goyer’s “Doctors” Adaptation Finds a Director in “The Path” Helmer Mike Cahill

20th Century Fox has tapped Mike Cahill (“The Path,” “The Magicians”) to helm their adaptation of Dash Shaw’s indie graphic novel, “Doctors.”

David S. Goyer (“The Dark Knight,” “Man of Steel”) is producing “Doctors” under his Phantom Four Films production banner. With Cahill, they’re developing the project for the big screen, alongside producers Kevin Turren and Matt Reilly at Fox. Ben Jacoby (“Bleed”) is writing the script.

Based on Fantagraphics’ 2014 OGN of the same name, “Doctors” follows Dr. Cho — the creator of a device called Charon, which allows his team of doctors to enter a dead patent’s consciousness to bring them back temporarily — and the unusual dilemma that arises when a woman asks to bring her unwilling mother back to life, after being killed in a car accident.

“Doctors” hasn’t been given a release date.
