After executive producing House of Cards for Netflix, filmmaker David Fincher will return to television in the same capacity for the HBO adaptation of Channel 4's Utopia. According Deadline, the new series will be written by Gillian Flynn, who penned Gone Girl, the source material for Fincher's upcoming film.

Utopia revolves around the follow-up to a graphic novel called The Utopia Experiments that predicted a series of terrible disasters. The people who discover the sequel comic find themselves on the run from an organization called The Network as they try to translate the book's secrets.

The original Utopia debuted on Britain's Channel 4 in January 2013 and will return for a second season later this year. A release date for the U.S. version hasn't been announced.
