Visionary director David Cronenberg has created some of the more disturbing imagines on screen, from Seth Brundle's transformation in The Fly to the brutal naked-man fight in Eastern Promises He knows how to create cringe. However, his next project will not find Cronenberg behind the camera, but rather in front of it.
According to TVLine, Cronenberg has been added to the cast of Syfy's upcoming Jack Bender-directed Rewind, a sci-fi drama that finds scientists and researches traveling through time to prevent a terrorist attack. He'll be joined by Lost alum Jeff Fahey, who worked with Bender on that series.
Cronenberg plays a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who, spurred on by the death of his wife, sets plans into motion that may prove dangerous for everyone involved. Fahey's character will be the zen master of the group, providing what TVLine described as "the spiritual backbone of the time travel team."
The show is being filmed in Toronto and is set to air next year. Shane McRaei (Four Kings), Jennifer Ferrin (The Cape), Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider), Robbie Jones (Hellcats) and Keon Mohajeri (Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures) also star.
