A new addition to the Slasher anthology series is on the horizon, courtesy of horror streaming service Shudder. The new eight-episode installment, titled Slasher: Flesh & Blood, will also see Canadian horror legend David Cronenberg join the cast. The announced series follows previous Slasher anthologies The ExecutionerGuilty Party and 2019's Solstice.

"Slasher is clever, bloody, scary and fun, and adding David Cronenberg to the mix will take this new installment of the series to the next level," said Craig Engler, Shudder's general manager. "We couldn't be more excited to work with Aaron Martin and the team over at Shaftesbury to bring the Slasher: Flesh and Blood to Shudder members."

Like the Slasher anthologies before it, Slasher: Flesh & Blood revolves around a masked killer fueled by an unknown but obsessive drive to kill the series' characters, one by one. In this iteration, a rich family comes together for a reunion on an island, only to discover a killer is lurking, waiting to strike.

Alongside Cronenberg, Slasher: Flesh & Blood will be bringing back past cast members in new roles. Fans can expect Paula Brancati, Jefferson Brown, Patrice Goodman, Sabrina Grdevich and Christopher Jacot to re-appear in the new show. They won't be alone, however, as Rachael Crawford, Jeananne Goosen, Sydney Meyer and Alex Ozerov are all set to make their Slasher debuts.

"We are so thrilled that Slasher will be brought back to life on Shudder," said Shaftesbury Chairman & CEO Christina Jennings. "We know the fans of the show weren't ready to say goodbye, so we are eager to bring them the goriest, scariest chapter of this anthology yet." President of Hollywood Suite, David Kines, added "The Slasher series overdelivers on good old-fashioned gore, horror and fun with fast pacing and exceptional casting. We are very excited to throw our support behind the series and resurrect it for another bone-chilling season."

Slasher: Flesh & Blood will stream on AMC's Shudder service in the US, Australia and New Zealand in 2021. Following traditional premieres in Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland, the series will then be available to stream for Shudder subscribers in those territories. Created by Aaron Martin, Slasher: Flesh & Blood is executive produced by Aaron Martin, Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, David Ozer, Thomas P. Vitale and Ian Carpenter, who also serves as showrunner. Production of the new series is currently underway now in Ontario, Canada.
