Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista would like to know if he is too unattractive to star in a romantic comedy.

"I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead," admitted Bautista during an interview with Page Six (via Variety). "I’m a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, 'Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?' I don’t know. It’s just never come my way. I’ve never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep searching."

Following his semi-retirement from professional wrestling, Bautista has established himself as a multi-genre actor, appearing in everything from comic book movies (Guardians of the Galaxy) and science-fiction tentpoles (Blade Runner 2049) to action comedies (Stuber) and family fare (My Spy). The actor can be seen next in M. Night Shyamalan's horror thriller Knock at the Cabin, which opens in theaters on Feb. 3. He will then reprise his role as Drax one last time for Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before making returning to the science fiction genre in Dune: Part Two.

Bautista Wants to Play Lex Luthor in James Gunn's DCU

While Bautista has been adamant that his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is over, the actor has expressed interest in starring in a future DC Universe project. After previously campaigning to play Bane in a Batman movie, Bautista has recently stated that he believes he is too old now to do the character justice. Instead, the actor has suggested that he should bring the iconic DC supervillain Lex Luthor to life in a Superman project, whether it's in James Gunn's upcoming Superman: Legacy or in a DC Elseworlds film, stating that he finds Luthor "more appealing to me at this point of my life and my career than playing Bane."

Knock at the Cabin is based on the 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul G. Tremblay. The film follows a family of three -- Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge and Kristen Cui -- who are suddenly held hostage by four strangers -- Bautista, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abby Quinn and Rupert Grint -- while vacationing at a remote cabin, who demand that the family sacrifice one of their own to avert the apocalypse.

Knock at the Cabin opens in theaters on Feb. 3, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5 and Dune: Part Two on Nov. 3.
