Dave Bautista has had an interesting film career, from the Guardians of the Galaxy films to cerebral sci-fi projects like Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming Dune. However, there's one film franchise the former WWE superstar was less than passionate about joining.

During a recent appearance on Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast, Bautista talked about his time working on 2018's Escape Plan 2: Hades and 2019's Escape Plan: The Extractors, explaining that he only joined the Escape Plan sequels to meet and work with franchise star Sylvester Stallone.

"I took this job - I wasn't crazy about the job - but I took it because I wanted to work with Stallone," Bautista said. "Our first scene together, I got in and sat with Stallone, and I said 'Look man, I'm not going to be a fanboy today. But tomorrow, I'm probably going to ask you a hundred questions.' And before we finished that scene, I had already contradicted myself, and I just wanted to ask question after question."

The original Escape Plan film from 2013 focuses on Ray Breslin (Stallone) and Emil Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) as they attempt to escape a top secret supermax prison. Bautista later starred alongside Stallone in the two the direct-to-video sequels. Bautista and Stallone actually both appeared in 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, though they never shared a scene together.

Bautista's next film project is the action comedy My Spy. Directed by Peter Segal, it also stars Chloe Coleman, Kristen Schaal, Ken Jeong, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Devere Rogers, Nikki Hahn, Jahi Di'Allo Winston and Olivia Dépatie. The film is scheduled to be released on Amazon Prime Video.
