With some fans are already grousing at the prospect of a Joker movie headlined by Jared Leto, Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has joked the development may actually be a good sign -- for Drax the Destroyer.
Since his Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014, Bautista has appeared as the fan-favorite Drax in the first two Guardians films and in the current Avengers: Infinity War, and is confirmed for at least a pair of sequels. However, the pro wrestler turned actor apparently also holds out a little hope for Drax solo movie.
Bautista reacted on Twitter to the news of Leto's Joker movie, joking that it bodes well for the likelihood of a Drax the Destroyer cinematic adventure.
But on the bright side! Which I usually try to look at... if this can happen then the chances of me getting a Drax movie have got to be astronomically high! Like so high that I’m going to stop tweeting and sit by the phone and wait for @MarvelStudios to call! ....any second now! https://t.co/hOt1I2OJxJ— Dave Bautista (@DaveBautista) June 6, 2018
The idea of a Drax movie is certainly an interesting one. Much more than the comedy value that Bautista provides in the MCU, comic book Drax has a complicated backstory with an equally complex family history. Although Drax's family were briefly mentioned in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, the movies are yet to flesh out what happened to them.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film is in theaters now.
