By far one of the most iconic villains of all-time, Darth Vader has been ingrained into popular culture ever since his debut back in 1977. Throughout the villain's life, from his Jedi beginnings as Anakin Skywalker all the way up to his last moments in Return Of The Jedi, he has proven to be a formidable opponent.

His powers and abilities, the extent of which have been explored more thoroughly in the Star Wars comic universe, are the stuff of legend. As powerful as Darth Vader is, however, how does he stack up against the might of some of DC's greatest heroes?

10 Darth Vader Wins: Green Arrow

The Green Arrow has always been a versatile hero, with plenty of gadgetry and trick arrows up his sleeve to help him in many different situations. Though his skills as a vigilante are commendable, there no match for a Sith Lord. Though the Emerald Archer might be able to last a little longer than your average joe, the immense power of Darth Vader would simply prove too difficult for him to overcome. If he did manage to dodge Vader's saber strikes, Vader would just force choke him to death.

9 Darth Vader Loses: Shazam

Shazam actually has a larger powerset than you might've thought, and thus, it's sometimes easy to forget just how incredibly powerful the classic superhero is. Embued with the Wisdom Of Solomon, Strength Of Hercules, Stamina of Atlas, Power Of Zeus, Courage of Achilles, and Speed Of Mercury, it's a wonder Billy Batson is able to keep track of it all. While the battle would surely not be quick, the combination of all Billy's powers, (in particular, his enhanced speed, physical strength, and electrokinesis) would be too much for Darth Vader to handle.

8 Darth Vader Wins: Cyborg

Cyborg

Cyborg is a powerful meta-human, with quite the gauntlet of abilities and tech at his disposal. Just a few of his capabilities include enhanced strength, durability, speed, vision, and healing, as well as flight, mechanokinesis, and extremely high levels of intelligence. Like Shazam, he's more powerful than you'd think at first glance.

With all that said though, he's got a disadvantage when it comes to facing anything magical in nature. The Force is essentially magic on a much higher scale, and similar to the forces of the DC universe in concept. It also doesn't help that Cyborg's body is made up of mechanical parts, something that doesn't stand much of a chance against Darth Vader's mastery of the Force. Cyborg would put up a heck of a fight but ultimately be torn apart by Vader.

7 Darth Vader Loses: Green Lantern(s)

Almost any of the upper-tier Green Lanterns could fit the bill here, including most prominently Hal Jordon, Kyle Rayner, and John Stewart. They've all accomplished feats of incredible power with their rings, from the relatively simple (John's super-sniper-rifle) to the absolutely wild (Kyle Rayner's giant mechs). Though Darth Vader's force abilities would prove an exceptionally hard challenge to deal with, it's likely they would not effect an emotional construct in the same way they do everything else. This variable paired with the near limitless potential the lantern constructs have would ultimately put the Green Lanterns in the winning slot.

6 Darth Vader Wins: Hawkman

Hawkman has always been one of the dark horse characters of the Justice League, and one filled with a convoluted and troubled history within the larger DC comics continuity. In terms of his fighting ability, he's a formidable fighter with his mace, and his Nth metal boots and belt help boost his overall strength. His wings also enable him to fly at substantially high speeds. Overall though, his lack of any substantial magical, cosmic, or meta powers puts him at a severe disadvantage against the likes of Darth Vader, who would simply crush him with the will of the Force.

5 Darth Vader Loses: Doctor Fate

While as previously mentioned, the Force is in some ways an upgraded form of magic, that doesn't mean that any single Force user have mastered the force's full potential. Though Darth Vader has proven to be one of the more powerful users of the force in the Star Wars canon, he is far from the most powerful.

Doctor Fate's arsenal of magical abilities is way too long to list here, but some of the highlights include telekinesis, telepathy, flight, super strength, teleportation, invisibility, and fire summoning, to name a few. His access to a diverse array of magic and his mastery of it makes him the victor in this matchup.

4 Darth Vader Wins: Black Canary

Black Canary rides toward the sunset in DC Comics

Much like her partner-in-crime Oliver Queen, Dinah Lance (a.k.a. the Black Canary) is a tough as nails hero, who has proven more than capable of holding her own in a fistfight. She's also got street smarts and a powerful canary cry that gives her a leg up over the average vigilante in the DC universe. Unfortunately for Dinah, a sonic scream isn't going to do much to help her chances against a powerful Sith Lord. Coincidentally, Vader's go-to force choke move would take out her best chance at stopping him. Darth Vader emerges the victor here.

3 Darth Vader Loses: Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is yet another hero with a rather large set of powers and also has a proven track record of defeating tough opponents. She's one of the few that have ever beaten Superman in a fight, so that gives her an edge above many other heroes on this list. Her willingness to kill if necessary also puts her at a bigger advantage here against Vader, as does her large ensemble of weaponry and equipment. At the end of the day though, her super speed, strength, and skills with the sword are what put her on a level that would be incredibly hard for even Vader to overcome. As such, Wonder Woman takes the win here.

2 Darth Vader Wins: Batman

Bruce Wayne (a.k.a. Batman) is one of the most intelligent and capable heroes in the history of comics, while also being one of DC's best fighters and detectives. He's got a contingency plan for almost everything and has defeated many tough foes over the years. With all that being said, he rarely faces truly powerful foes without the help of the Justice League, and Darth Vader most certainly falls into that category.

It might seem redundant to reiterate at this point, but Darth Vader's access to the Force puts him at a significant advantage above anybody without "powers". The only way to truly combat the Force is for one to have access to it themselves, which Batman does not have. Thus, Darth Vader destroys Batman in this scenario, no questions.

1 Darth Vader Loses: Spectre

As already established, Darth Vader is a powerful Sith Lord that has access to a long list of OP abilities, such as force pull/push, force choke, mind invasion, levitation, and precognition. He's also handy with a lightsaber and can stand toe-to-toe in a one-on-one fight with the best of them. All that's well and good until you go against someone of cosmic proportions such as the Spectre. He's got a near limitless pool of power to tap into, most prominently the ability to warp reality itself. No matter what Force trick or saber tactic Vader pulls, nothing he could do would stop the unstoppable might of the Spectre.
