There are few more evil beings in any comic universe than Darkseid. Lord of the planet Apokolips and the God of Evil, Darkseid doesn't just want to conquer the universeーhe wants complete control of everything and it doesn't matter to him how he gets it. The ultimate predator, few can stand against him.
Conversely, the Silver Surfer is one of the most pure-hearted heroes to exist in any comic universe. One of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, the Power Cosmic allows Silver Surfer to perform some amazing feats and protect the innocent people of the universe. If these two cosmic titans were to clash, who would stand victorious? Let's take a look.
11 Darkseid: The Tiger Force At The Center Of All Things
Darkseid is pretty much the worst being in the DC Multiverse. His only purpose is atrocity, be it in wide scale, using tactics like genocide, slavery, and complete subjugation, or at a smaller scale, the casual atrocities that destroy an individual's life. Regardless of the scale, he has the power to accomplish all of his terrible goals.
Darkseid is malevolence personified, the darkness at the center of all things. He is hunger in its most terrible aspect and he won't stop until all creation fills his belly.
10 Silver Surfer: He Is Speed
As the Herald of Galactus, Silver Surfer traveled the void of space, trying to find worlds for his master to consume. Space is vast and the speeds needed to traverse the dark interstellar depths in any kind of reasonable amount of time are inconceivable... except for Silver Surfer, one of the fastest beings in the Marvel Universe.
This speed isn't just useful for traveling long distances, it also allows Silver Surfer unparalleled hit and run attack power, making him even more dangerous.
9 Darkseid: The Legions Of Apokolips
One doesn't just face Darkseid when they go up against himーthey face the entirety of Apokolips. Darkseid rules the planet with an iron fist and the people of the planet worship him... or else. He has his Parademons, the shock troops of his regime, legions of cannon fodder he can throw against any foe, but that's just the beginning.
He has powerful lieutenants, renowned combatants like the Female Furies and Kanto, the twisted torturer Desaad, and his monstrous son Kalibak. With all of this at Darkseid's command, most foes never even get to face him.
8 Silver Surfer: One Of The Toughest Beings In The Cosmos
Silver Surfer's skin isn't just really cool looking, it's also one of the most protective skin coverings in all of comics. Silver Surfer needs itーtraveling through space is perilous; it only seems empty but there are all manners of energy and radiation, micrometeorites, debris, and ejecta. When one travels as fast as Surfer does, any protection is necessary.
It also protects him when in battle, which is a definitely a plusーSilver Surfer faces some of the most powerful threats in the universe and needs to be able to take a lot of damage.
7 Darkseid: The Apex Predator
There are few beings in any universe as crafty or powerful as Darkseid and he uses all of that cunning and strength to place himself at the top of the food chain in any situation. Whether it be his world of Apokolips or anywhere else in the Multiverse, Darkseid is always the pinnacle of evil, the villain all of the others are wary of. At any time, he can swoop in and destroy them.
Even if they are somehow able to defeat Darkseid, he always comes back, ready to wreak havoc on the universe all over again. There are few predators more deadly than one that won't stay dead.
6 Silver Surfer: Surviving The Titan
The closest analog to Darkseid in the Marvel Universe is the Mad Titan, Thanos. While he's not nearly as powerful as Darkseid, Thanos is still a threat on par with the God of Evil because of his singlemindedness and tenacity. There are few beings in the Marvel Universe powerful enough to be able to fight Thanos on their own and the Silver Surfer is one of them.
Battling Thanos one on one is no easy taskーhe destroys the entire populations of planets on his own and has been able to defeat his own son, who was possessed by the Phoenix Force. Silver Surfer is not only able to battle him but has even defeated him on occasion.
5 Darkseid: To Kill A God
Putting Darkseid down has proven over the years to be nigh impossible. That's not to say Darkseid hasn't diedーhe has. However, to kill Darkseid it takes a supremely powerful foe, like the Anti-Monitor, or a whole lot of preparation and power to pull it off. Even then, Darkseid is still one of the most dangerous foes imaginable.
Take Final Crisisーbefore the story even began, Darkseid and his lackeys were all killed, but they were able to send their spirits to Earth and possess and transmute new bodies. The death of Darkseid's original body caused a black hole to appear that began warping the multiverse around it, pulling everything in existence down into itself. Darkseid is just as dangerous in death as he is alive.
4 Silver Surfer: The Power Of Hope
Silver Surfer is a very powerful individual but his greatest asset isn't the Power Cosmicーit's his unbreakable hope. Silver Surfer exists to bring hope to those in trouble, to make up for his crimes as the Herald of Galactus. Where ever he goes, he brings hope with him, fighting for those without the power to fight for themselves.
It's this hope that also fuels him, keeping him going through the worst of times and battling the most deadly cosmic threats the universe has ever seen. Hope is the fuel that moves him through the darkest times.
3 Darkseid: Certain Death
Facing Darkseid for the unprepared is almost certainly a losing proposition. He's so massively powerful on a personal level that anyone battling him is in for a nearly impossible fight to win... and that's if they can survive long enough to get to Darkseid. Even if they were able to fight their way through the legions of Parademons and Darkseid's powerful lieutenants, Darkseid himself will prove nearly insurmountable.
Massively strong and durable, he also has the Omega Effect at his disposal, eyebeams that will track their target anywhere and kill them with one blast and the Omega Sanction, a blast that throws its target through the timestream, transforming them into a powerful weapon against the present as they move forward through time.
2 Silver Surfer: The Power Cosmic
When he became Galactus's Herald, Silver Surfer was imbued with the Power Cosmic, one of the most potent forces in the cosmos. It gives Surfer a variety of powersーamazing strength, the ability to control and manipulate massive amounts of cosmic energy, fly at superluminal speeds, and manipulate organic and inorganic matter.
With power like these, it takes a very powerful foe to even challenge Silver Surfer. Most villains don't stand a chance against him.
1 Winner: Darkseid
Silver Surfer has faced many foes in his day, threats that would freeze the blood of the most stalwart heroes but Darkseid is a being that would get the best of him. Surfer could make quick work of Darkseid's lackeys, but it's the God of Evil himself that would prove to be too much for him. As powerful as the Power Cosmic is, it won't be able to affect Darkseid because of his divine status but his powers would be able to hurt Surfer. One blast of the Omega Effect later and the fight would be over.
