Zack Snyder's Justice League actor Ray Porter, who plays Darkseid in the film, has every hope the DC Extended Universe will see more Snyderverse entries in the future.
During a recent interview with Geek House Show, Porter was asked whether there was any chance more DCEU movies from Zack Snyder are on the horizon. "There's always hope," he said. "I don't know anything about it, and I think a lot of moving parts would have to shift into place for it to occur, but that's way above my pay grade." Porter suggested Snyder's fervent fans could make an extended Snyderverse a reality. "I do know that this fandom -- if they desire something enough -- can move mountains," he said. "I believe in the fans, and I have hope."
Porter also praised DCEU fans for their enthusiasm in campaigning for Warner Bros. to release what would become Zack Snyder's Justice League. "Fans felt restless -- they felt like there was more to be told, and they started to get noisy, in a good way ... And in spite of being told it didn't exist, they remained steadfast and kept the energy up, kept hope alive, and lo and behold, we have it now." He described how, when leaks revealed his cut role from the film, fans flocked to his Twitter account to welcome him to the DCEU community. "Nobody was ever like, 'Um, who are you?' ... I got welcomed into this amazing community of fans."
Porter's Darkseid was a vestige of Snyder's vision for Justice League before the director had to step away from the production due to a family tragedy. When The Avengers director Joss Whedon was brought in to wrap up the film, Porter was informed his character had been cut. That would be far from the end of Porter's role in the DCEU, however.
Justice League opened in 2017 to a lackluster response from critics and fans alike. Rumors began to swirl that Snyder's original plan for the film was vastly different from Whedon's final cut, and disgruntled DCEU fans banded together to demand a revised version. At the end of a very vocal campaign, fans triumphed when HBO Max announced Zack Snyder's Justice League would premiere on the streaming service. While it still received somewhat mixed reviews, most agreed the new film indeed surpassed the theatrical version of Justice League in overall quality.
As the interview wrapped up, Porter expressed his gratitude to DCEU fans who helped bring his role to light. "Sitting here at the shop in Dubai and signing things -- for me, it's a wonderful way of saying thank you to every single fan who believed and remained steadfast," he said. "I owe all of this ... to fans, truly."
