Reshoots and a studio-mandated two-hour runtime meant that a lot of scenes were cut from Justice League, and now Clerks director Kevin Smith has seemingly confirmed that one of those deleted scenes involved Darkseid, who was only mentioned in the film.

After expressing his support for the release of a Zack Snyder-cut of the film, Clerks director Kevin Smith opened up an article and began to read off some of the changes between an early screener of the film and the final version.

"Superman joins the fight and teams up with the League to defeat Steppenwolf, however, at one point, Steppenwolf tries to tempt Superman into joining his army, ready for this," Smith said on his Fatman on Batman podcast. "This made me so f**king angry, and we see Darkseid for the first time in Superman's vision and we see flashes of the nightmare footage that Batman had in Batman v Superman, however, Superman snaps back out of it and delivers the final blow to defeat Steppenwolf."

An individual at the podcast's taping, who had also seen that same earlier cut of the film, confirmed the article's veracity for Smith. She also noted that Darkseid didn't look fully "finished" in that version of the film.

The petition to release a Snyder-cut has already passed 150,000 signatures. There's also still a chance that Darkseid may make it on to the Blu-ray/DVD release as a deleted scene.
