Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" is one of the most celebrated epics in the whole fantasy genre. It feels like the film adaptation (or more accurately, the sequel) has taken forever to get here. Mostly consisting of some cool, moody posters, the marketing for the upcoming movie has been fairly subdued. That looks set to change tomorrow.

As teased on the movie's Facebook page, a series of new motion posters promises a trailer debut tomorrow. The trailer has been rumored for a little while now, speculated to be attached to "Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2," which will be in theaters at the end of this week.

The three posters tease the main characters of the first novel in the series "The Gunslinger." We have Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, the titular Gunslinger who wields pistols forged from the melted down remains of King Arthur's sword Excalibur. Then we have Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black, who goes by many, many names, and serves as the antagonist in many Stephen King books, most notably including "The Stand." The Man in Black is walking across a blasted Manhattan street looking like he just teleported into our world. Finally, we have Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, a young boy who has visions of Roland's quest. As you can see in the poster, Jake does not remain in our world, but journeys to the weird apocalypse land of Mid-World, where Roland pursues the Man in Black, and ultimately the Dark Tower, the center of the multiverse.

It's weird heady stuff, but the perfect story for a visual medium like film. The many worlds that Roland crosses on his quest are varied, some coming from other Stephen King stories and some standing on their own. We'll have a better look at which worlds will be included in the first film when we see the full trailer tomorrow.

Opening Aug. 4, “The Dark Tower” also stars Abbey Lee, Katheryn Winnick, Fran Kranz, Claudia Kim and Jackie Earle Haley.
