Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the third and final season of its German time-travel series, Dark, confirming the release date for June 27.

It's a very ominous date, as this is the same day the apocalypse began in the series, setting off a chain of events across multiple timelines. The clip clocks in at just over a minute and as expected, it's utterly cryptic as we see Jonas and Martha in the alternate reality she took him to at the end of Season 2.

We also see Jonas' future self, Adam, detonating what appears to be another temporal bomb with the families of Winden unlocking various other secrets as the timeline progresses. This time, Adam says the "knot" or the time loop can't be unraveled -- it must be destroyed -- with the tagline changing from "the final cycle begins" to "the final cycle ends."

Theorists are already positing Adam will have to be killed by Jonas to save Winden in 2020, but there are also three mysterious figures who appear to be the same person arriving, who are found burning Adam's cult chambers belonging to Sic Mundus, aka the Travellers. With shots of Jonas running backward, many are wondering if he has indeed found a way to reverse time and also, who will be sacrificed to save the past, present and future.

Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, Dark stars Oliver Masucci, Karoline Eichhorn and Jördis Triebel. The third and final season arrives on Netflix June 27.
