The premiere date for Netflix's Bastard!! reboot is fast approaching, and a new trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the heavy metal-inspired, dark fantasy world.

The full-length trailer, which was released through Netflix's official anime-focused YouTube account, teases the show's action-packed narrative and highlights series protagonist Dark Schneider, an egotistical wizard who once tried to conquer the world but who has now been revived in order to protect the Kingdom of Metallicana from an even bigger threat, the Four Lords of Havoc. It also features Bastard!!'s epic opening theme song, "Bloody Power Fame," by award-winning rock band Coldrain.

This new trailer isn't the only preview of Bastard!! that fans have gotten. An intense teaser trailer was dropped earlier this year as well as a key visual that depicts a grinning Dark Schnieder about to cast a spell. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on June 30 and will include a total of 24 episodes.

Series creator Kazushi Hagiwara was inspired by heavy metal music and Dungeons & Dragons when he created the Bastard!! manga. The series debuted in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1988 and was eventually moved to Ultra Jump in 2000. While Bastard!! is classified as an ongoing series, it has been on hiatus since 2010.

AIC (Space Battleship Yamato 2199) originally adapted Hagiwara's story into a six-episode original video animation (OVA) back in 1992, which was released in North America on VHS by Pioneer Entertainment in 1998. Liden Films, the studio behind Tokyo Revengers and Tribe Nine, is producing the Netflix reboot with Takaharu Ozaki (Goblin Slayer) acting as director, Yousuke Kuroda (Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online) supervising the series composition and Sayaka Ono (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) designing the characters.

Multiple members of Bastard!!'s voice cast have been confirmed, including Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle's Kisho Taniyama as Dark Schnieder and Wonder Egg Priority's Tomori Kusunoki as Tia Noto Yoko, the daughter of a priest who resurrects the wizard at the beginning of the story. Kanae Ito (So I'm a Spider, So What?) is playing Lucien Renlen, Tomokazu Sugita (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) voices Abigail, Kensho Ono (Spy x Family) plays Kall-Su and Nao Toyama (The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt) is voicing Sheila Tuel MetaIlicana.

For manga and anime fans who want to read Hagiwara's story before Bastard!!'s Netflix debut, the first 19 volumes of the manga have been released in English by VIZ Media.
