Fox's X-Men film franchise doesn't look to be going out on a high-note, as box office projections for Simon Kinberg's Dark Phoenix continue to fall.

According DeadlineDark Phoenix will only earn around $33.9 million over the three-day weekend, the lowest for any film in the X-Men franchise. The Wolverine currently holds the dubious position with its $53.1 million earned domestically from its 2013 opening. $33.9 million will put Dark Phoenix below Secret Life of Pets 2, which will earn approximately $46.2 million.
