Following the release of the first official trailer for the upcoming Dark Phoenix, a new set of still images from the film have been revealed as well. These photos, which were posted by IGN, have quite a lot to say about what fans can expect from the next chapter in the X-Men film saga. One photo in particular shows that Fox are once again expanding their roster of mutants for this new installment.

The first photo in question shows off mutants Selene (played by Kota Eberhardt) and Red Lotus (played by Andrew Stehlin) as they stand alongside Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender.) We break down who these characters are and what they may mean to the film, here.

Other photos in the set show off Jessica Chastain's mysterious cosmic villain (who has been described as a female version of Marvel Comics' Mastermind), including one where she comes face to face with Sophie Turner's Jean Grey (the titular Dark Phoenix.) Fans can also catch a glimpse at Grey brooding in the rain, Jennifer Lawrence's updated look as Mystique, a different angle of the mysterious funeral scene from the trailer, as well as a behind-the-scenes photo of director Simon Kinberg chatting with Michael Fassbender.
