With 2oth Century Fox's Dark Phoenix now roughly half a year away from its theatrical release, a new image featuring Sophie Turner as Jean Grey (aka the titular Phoenix) proudly sporting her X-Men suit has been released.

The photo, which first appeared in the latest issue of Total Film Magazine, shows Turner in the black-and-yellow costume as the X-Men seemingly prepare to embark on a mission. The presence of military personnel indicates that the X-Men may receive some help from the government with their mission.

The X-Men uniforms used in Dark Phoenix take their cues from the ones designed by comic book artist Frank Quitely during his run on New X-Men. The costumes also hearken back to those worn by the original X-Men around the time the team was first created, as well as those worn by the cast of 2011's X-Men: First Class.

In Dark Phoenix's first official trailer, characters such as Cyclops, Storm, Mystique, Beast, Nightcrawler and Quicksilver could all be spotted wearing these new outfits. However, seeing as how Jean has seemingly gone rogue, she is mostly seen in more casual clothes.

Unofficial, low-resolution set photos have emerged of Turner in-costume before. However, this appears to be the first good, up-close shot of how Jean will look as a proper member of the X-Men.

Written and directed by franchise veteran Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain. The film opens on June 7, 2019.
