SPOILER WARNING: This article contains mild spoilers for Dark Nights: Metal #6 by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion and FCO Plascencia, on sale now.

Two of the themes running throughout Dark Nights: Metal were the Justice League's use of music as a weapon against Barbatos and his evil Batmen of the Dark Multiverse, along with writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo's love of the heavy metal genre. This deep appreciation was on display in Metal #6's final moments, as DC's heroes celebrated victory with a star-studded concert.

The issue's epilogue, illustrated by Batman artist Mikel Janin, takes place at Wayne Manor, with Batman bringing his friends and teammates together to enjoy their win, while also preparing for the threats yet to come. But instead of the Justice League arriving in their typical outfits, Alfred has prepared tailored suits for each attendee.

Calm Before The Storm

Once everyone has settled in, Batman gets us up to speed on how the finale of Metal will have lasting repercussions throughout the DC Universe. First the good stuff: Challengers Mountain is back in Colorado, the House of Heroes is being rebuilt, and new worlds are being created throughout the Multiverse. But with the good comes the bad, including dark times ahead for the New Age of Heroes and words of warning for the Green Lanterns, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and the entire Justice League. Finally, if that weren't enough, the Source Wall has fallen, unleashing all-new threats across the Multiverse.

But as bad as things may seem, now is not the time to worry about tomorrow. Today is for partying... and music!

Everybody On The Dance Floor

With the meeting over, Batman leads our heroes to another room for entertainment, which comes in the form of a party complete with a dance floor and live band comprised of a rather unlikely crew of DC mainstays. On the drums we have Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred, with Damian Wayne and Jonathan Kent tag teaming the guitars. Cutting a rug on the dancefloor are the likes of Nightwing, Batgirl, Detective Chimp, Green Arrow, Black Canary and Swamp Thing, complete with a red bowtie around his neck. What makes the splash page great is trying to recognize each hero in civilian attire.

Of course, Batman always has a plan, and that means strengthening the Justice League by first adding Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl to their ranks. The second part of the plan will also see the return of the iconic Hall of Justice as their base of operations, and the addition of two new teams, Justice League Dark and Justice League Odyssey.

The Justice League came out of Dark Nights: Metal unscathed but not unchanged, and there's plenty of work to do. However, it doesn't mean they can't still have fun in the process. It's refreshing to see these characters have a moment where they can smile, laugh and enjoy each other's company for a change, and not have it centered on an attacking enemy. But thankfully, the Justice League doesn't abide by the "all work no play" motto, as Snyder and Janin make sure the superheroes celebrate like true rockstars.
